Summary

Alford Media is specialized division of Freeman that is nationally recognized for our expertise in corporate event technology. The Audio Designer will be responsible for creating audio designs for top customers. The Audio Designer will design technical audio to match the customer’s preferences, mood, and environment as appropriate.

This position will support our Audio Visual and Event Technology team. It is eligible to work a hybrid schedule, generally requiring work in-office and/or show-site 2-3 days per week based out of Dallas, TX.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Design, install and operate large audio systems for high-end corporate events.

Specify equipment and labor for proposals.

Determine appropriate equipment substitutions when applicable.

Supervise an average of 5 part time audio labor on show site including technicians, union employees, stagehands and/or casual labor. Duties include hiring, training, assigning work, overseeing installation of equipment, and ensuring that activities are performed in a timely and cost effective manner.

Handle on site grievances up to and including notifying management if anyone needs to be released from their duties.

Submit show reports for each event to Sales Manager and Senior Leadership, which include equipment additions and overtime hours for billing, issues and successes on show, and evaluation of labor performance, which will be used to determine future assignments.

Develop and foster a positive, team-oriented atmosphere.

Function as client contact and/or crew chief.

Conduct onsite safety meetings.

Ensure that company safety guidelines are followed and implemented on show site.

Stay abreast of industry technology.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree preferred, High School Diploma or Equivalent with relevant work experience required.

Must have general knowledge of hotel, convention and trade show industry.

4 or more years experience using various types of audio equipment.

2 or more years supervisory experience required.

Must be detail oriented and a team player.

Must have sound technical audio skills.

Travel Requirements

Travel 50% to 75%
