What You Will Be Doing
This position is responsible for independently performing audits and adjustments of child support cases, which requires documenting support, payments, and credits in compliance with appropriate statutes and regulations. Duties require the incumbent to reconcile financial data from multiple databases or records from another child support agency. Other adjustments may include new case setup, reinstatements, modifications, and distribution verifications when children are receiving public assistance benefits under Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Tribal TANF, and Foster Care.
The position is also responsible for training accounting technicians and promoting good working relationships with staff within the Division, State, and other agencies.

The Working Environment You Can Expect Located in the Atwood building in downtown Anchorage, we are a large division with 196 employees.
This position requires in-person training, and office presence is required.
Who We Are Looking For Accounting : knowledge of traditional accounting practices including accrual, obligations, and costs methods. Accounting Operations : knowledge of generally accepted auditing standards and procedures for conducting financial and compliance, economy and efficiency, and program audits. Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving : uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one’s knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary. Oral Communication : expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Teaching Others : helps others learn through formal or informal methods; identifies training needs; provides constructive feedback; coaches others on how to perform tasks; acts as a mentor. Minimum Qualifications One year of entry technical level accounting or clerical bookkeeping experience.
Substitutions: Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience.
Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting.
