of selected individual. Accounting Technician 1: $23.91
Accounting Technician 2: $27.17
What you will be doing: The incumbent of this position will be responsible for accepting payments to the department in multiple forms including cash, check, and credit card, and ensuring that those payments are deposited and applied appropriately. Other duties include processing refunds, inter-agency payments, and adjusting journal entries. Additionally, the incumbent will have the opportunity to become familiar with CRITTS, DEC’s timekeeping and billing system, where they will maintain sales, clear deposits, and assist divisions with various related tasks. This position also serves as the backup to the Juneau office’s Administrative Assistant.

We are looking for a candidate that has experience in the following areas: Accounting:
Knowledge of traditional accounting practices including accrual, obligations, and costs methods. Written Communication:
Writes in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience. Customer Service:
Anticipates and meets the needs of both internal and external customers. Delivers high-quality products and services; is committed to continuous improvement. Problem Solving:

Accounting Technician 1 (Range 12): One year of clerical work experience maintaining records that included using computer systems and performing basic arithmetic calculations.
Substitutions: Successful completion of a formal vocational education program in accounting or bookkeeping will substitute for the required experience.
Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month).
Accounting Technician 2 (Range 14): One year of entry technical level accounting or clerical bookkeeping experience.
Substitutions: Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience.
Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting. FLEXIBLY STAFFED This position is flexibly staffed. The level of the job offer will be based on the selected candidate’s credibly possessed and proven competencies. If hired at the lower level, you will be promoted to the higher level after completing the training plan and demonstrating competency in the work.
