www.worldbank.org . VPU Context The World Bank Group Gender Strategy 2024-30 puts forward the bold ambition to accelerate gender equality to end poverty on a livable planet. The strategy responds to the global urgency, fundamentality, and complexity of achieving gender equality. It approaches gender equality for all as essential for global development. Unit Context The Gender Group drives progress and inspires action across the World Bank Group to implement the World Bank Group Gender Strategy, achieve targets, and meet gender equality goals. Responsibilities: Provide technical support to the Gender Group under the guidance of the Global Director, more specifically: Lead and coordinate the production of briefing notes, talking points, speeches, presentations, technical inputs, and other materials for the Global Director and World Bank management for various internal and external engagements. Connect with staff across WBG working to accelerate gender equality and integrate relevant work and good practice to inform the Gender Group’s strategic directions. Lead on managing and assigning requests for external engagements with critical stakeholders and partners. Respond to queries related to the Gender Group front office from various internal and external clients. Coordinate the Gender Group’s participation in key events and summarize takeaways for the Gender Group Global Advocacy, Partnerships and Communications. Support high-level partnership engagements, such as the Commission on the Status of Women, but also with other MDBs, in collaboration with the Communications team. Lead engagement with CSOs on behalf of the Global Director. Lead the organization, logistics and preparation processes for events in which the Gender Group Director participates or hosts. Contribute to development and implementation of the communication strategy of the Gender Group. Selection Criteria Advanced degree in International Development/Affairs and/or Economics and Public Policy related areas preferably with a strong focus on gender issues. A minimum of five years of relevant experience. Experience in leading the preparation of briefs, analytical products, and other materials; strong project management and organizational skills. Strong integrative thinking; ability to conceptualize, design, and implement major tasks collaboratively. Strong technical and analytical skills and ability to provide well-grounded, analytical inputs with pragmatism. Strong drive for results with the ability to work independently and diligently, while prioritizing and meeting deadlines. Strong analytical writing ability. Ability to learn quickly, synthesize technical material and distill in a user-friendly manner for multiple audiences.
