Day (United States of America) Description:
Position Summary Under the direction of the President Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, responsible for the efficient operation of patient care areas to ensure high quality, cost effective and compassionate family centered care. In collaboration with hospital executives, develops plans to support the growth of clinical services in Brooklyn. Provides routine communication on project initiatives and overall campus strategic plan. Essential Job Duties Hospital Operations: Directs daily activities of NYP-BMH, including process management, resource allocation and performance improvements. Areas of focus: Women’s and Pediatric service line, Oncology service line, including Infusion Center and Radiation Therapy departments, Orthopedic service line, Rehab Services Department, and Neuro service line. In consultation with Clinical Leadership, develops and monitors outcome measures. Develops, with Clinical Leadership, criteria to allocate key hospital resources (Budgets, Staffing, Ancillary Services, etc.). In collaboration with clinical leaders, leads initiatives to support campus growth plan. Ensures Human Resource management, integration, coordination and consistency. Strong Hospital integration with academic departments/organizations. Represents NYP-BMH at system-wide Senior Management planning and financial forums. Family Centered Care and Satisfaction: Leads on-going discussions with department leaders focused on patient experience. Develops appropriate performance improvement objectives tracking program and communicates plan to support improvement goals for Physician Satisfaction and Employee Satisfaction. Develops mechanism to gather and analyze data in a standardized, consistent and accurate way. Designs and implements “feedback-loop” to divisional leadership in order to facilitate positive change. Strategic Development and Planning: Coaches Clinical Leadership in development of new programs and initiatives to improve patient care, increase market-share and improve cost effectiveness. Provides support in initiating and reviewing network development. Participates in the development, implementation and performance review of annual Operating Budget and Capital Budget. Develops and implements Plans of Corrective Action for performance variance. Recommends and negotiates clinical and physician support agreements. Workflow Stream Redesign: Directs Workflow stream analysis of business units. Directs analysis of revenue capture protocols. Develops and implements automated and manual systems to improve delivery of care, maximize efficiency, minimize cost and enhance revenue opportunities. Develops and implements tools for monitoring strategic initiatives. Works with corporate Human Resources to design and implement Staff Education and Professional Development programs. Decision Support Development: Functions as primary liaison with Corporate Information Systems Division. Interfaces with Corporate Information Systems Division to enhance existing database structures and ad-hoc decision support data sets. Participates in vendor selection, coordinates systems implementation and testing of new decision support modules which impact Hospital operations. Performs all duties inherent to managerial role. Participates in hiring, training, evaluation and termination of assigned staff according to hospital policies and procedures. Performs other special projects and duties as assigned. Qualifications Required (R), Preferred (P) Education Bachelor’s degree (R) Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration, Business Administration, or related field (P) Work Experience 7-10 years progressive experience in management or administrative positions (R) Diverse analytical ability and understanding of Hospital operations (R) Ability to develop short and long term plans and objectives (R) Significant participation in the development of policies and procedures which affect a wide variety of Hospital Departments (R) Join a healthcare system where employee engagement is at an all-time high.
