About Our Client
Our client is a vertically integrated owner and developer of multifamily real estate properties in the across the US. The business has grown rapidly in the last 5 years and they are looking for an experienced finance professional to support that growth.
Job Description
Our client is seeking a strategic, operational, growth-minded, and process-oriented Assistant Controller. Reporting to President of the firm the Assistant Controller will be a key member of leadership team with full responsibility for all finance and accounting operations. The Assistant Controller will implement structure around existing and new accounting processes, while not being afraid to challenge the status quo.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Oversee and manage company's accounting practices, Fund management and the preparation of financial reports for stakeholders. Assist in the firm's reporting and compliance. Calculate net asset value, yields, and investor distributions Maintenance of books and records, recording of transactions and accruals, and oversee all aspects of accounting, including treasury, financial reporting, and balance sheet management. Review monthly and quarterly account reconciliations and other documents to ensure records adhere to company policies and GAAP Help coordinate internal and external audits Oversee lender reporting and compliance, oversee team tracking and adherence to reporting deadlines Assist with enterprise level lines of credit and ongoing credit requirements required for growth and capitalization Drive continuous improvement with financial reporting accuracy through ongoing reconciliation and variance analysis reporting. Drive automation and identify new efficiencies to support portfolio growth. The Successful Applicant
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related fields with 5+ years of relevant real estate finance experience. The ideal candidate will have a majority of their experience spent in the multifamily housing sector. Other sectors in commercial real estate will be considered. Other key qualities:
Strong understanding of real estate investment ventures and the real estate development process Process improvement minded professional who is always looking to improve efficiency and accuracy of the finance function. Experience in real estate partnership investments related to Acquisitions, value add tenant improvement and property management preferred Experience working in the multifamily sector a plus. Excellent working knowledge of MS Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
While this is a staff leadership position, our client maintains a 'flat' org structure and all leaders are hands on in their roles. You will manage a Senior Accountant with the opportunity to grow the team over time.
What's on Offer
Strong basic salary plus bonus potential, targeting $110,000-$130,000 plus incentives. Opportunity to have a high visibility position and make an immediate impact to a growing team! There is an opportunity for 1 day work from home.
