Job Description
The Division of Pediatric Critical Care, Department of Pediatrics at The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a physician scientist Pediatric Intensivists to provide care at Children's of Alabama. The preferred candidates will demonstrate a track record of excellence in clinical care, graduate medical education or research and possess outstanding leadership skills. Demonstrated accomplishment in the field of PICU leadership, research, and/or infection control is highly desirable.
The Critical Care Division is currently comprised of eleven faculty members who staff a 24 bed Medical/Surgical ICU, Critical Care Transport Team, Rapid Response Team, Pediatric Simon Sedation Service, the Pediatric Simulation Center at Children's of Alabama, and supports an ACGME-approved fellowship-training program.
Children's of Alabama (COA) serves as Alabama's main tertiary care center for children. COA is the third largest children's hospital medical campus in the U.S. It is home to the state's only Level I pediatric trauma center, the only pediatric renal care center, the largest pediatric burn center in the Southeast and is one of the largest pediatric outpatient centers in the nation. With Pediatric subspecialty divisions nationally ranked in eight of the categories evaluated by U.S. News and World Report, COA offers a remarkable work environment and the opportunity to perform outstanding multi-disciplinary care, education and research.
The University of Alabama at Birmingham offers a very competitive salary and benefits package. Successful candidates must be a licensed MD/DO and board certified/eligible in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. Physicians and other clinical faculty candidates who will be employed by the University of Alabama Health Services Foundation (UAHSF) or other UAB Medicine entities, must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Required Qualifications
Successful candidates must be a licensed MD or DO and board certified/eligible in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.
