Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to support Hawke Media's financial operations and strategy. In this role, you'll take an active part in managing the full spectrum of financial activities, with a focus on accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP). This position involves month-end activities, reporting, budgeting, and process improvement initiatives. We're looking for a proactive and strategic team player with broad accounting knowledge who can bring value and insights to financial decisions and help drive operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform day-to-day accounting including journal entries and cash application. Month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, GL maintenance. Invoicing of customers, processing payments and occasional AR collections. Own billing process. Ensure proper revenue items are billed and recognized. Manage payables with vendors & 3rd-party services organizations. Cash management and bank reconciliations. Complete account reconciliations and account analysis. Prepare monthly reports. Help implement process improvement and managing internal controls.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience. 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a start-up or high-growth environment. Solid understanding of basic accounting principles; working knowledge of GAAP preferred. Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Google Suite. Self-starter with strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
