Position Overview: The Corporate Accounting Manager is a critical support position in the Company's accounting and financial reporting processes. This position plays a key role in the closing of the books, the preparation of consolidated financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, and in managing the two staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Close and Reporting:
Support leadership in managing the monthly close. Review payroll postings for completeness, and record and/or manage certain monthly journal entries. Assist in preparation of quarterly and annual financials, supporting footnotes, analytical schedules, and MD&A memo. Ensure financial statements, including footnotes, are accurate, supported by proper documentation, and clearly tied out. Utilize ERP and Planning tool in the management of the close, preparation of financial statements, management of master data, and collection of prepared account reconciliations.
Benefit Plan, Inventory, and Fixed Asset Management:
Prepare analyses of benefit plan accounts including pensions, 401k, and Deferred Compensation. Prepare audited financials for the Company's pension and 401k benefit plans and manage the audit. Manage the fixed assets accountant and the staff accountant in the execution of department responsibilities.
Compliance and Internal Controls:
Utilize GAAP checklists to ensure all disclosure requirements are met. Understand and comply with internal controls over financial reporting. Update as necessary. Maintain close calendar and account reconciliation profiles as needed for changes in processes and ensure compliance with internal controls.
Research and Policy Development:
Research accounting, reporting, and disclosure issues and interpret their impact on the business. Write memos to outline company interpretation and implementation of new pronouncements. Prepare/assist in preparation of presentations communicating impacts and issues to internally interested parties (e.g., CFO & CEO).
Team Leadership and Ad Hoc Responsibilities
Contribute to staff development through personal interaction, review of output, and the assignment of challenging projects. Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis as requested by management and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. 10+ years of experience in corporate accounting, financial reporting, benefits accounting, and/or fixed assets preferred. CPA required. SEC reporting is a plus but not required. General ledger and financial systems experience required in a large ERP. Proficient in Excel, financial modeling, and commission calculation tools. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to: the individual's skill sets, experience and training; licensure and certification requirements; office location and other geographic considerations; other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
