Security Engineer Job Description Job Title: IT Security Engineer Consultant Department: Information Technology/Security Reports to: CISO Salary Range: $90.00 - $125.00 per hour US BASED, NO SPONSORSHIP Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Engineer / Security Architect to join our team. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and strategic thinking to design, implement, and maintain robust security solutions. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of security principles, practices, and technologies. This is a hands-on experience role. Project Based Work Will be required to come into the client’s office 1-2 times a week and/or on demand. Background check required Key Responsibilities: Security Architecture: Design and implement a comprehensive security architecture, including network, application, and infrastructure security. Develop and maintain security standards, policies, and procedures. Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analysis to identify potential threats and weaknesses. Security Engineering: Configure and deploy security tools and technologies (firewalls, intrusion detection systems, etc.). Perform security incident response and threat hunting activities. Monitor security systems and logs to identify and respond to security events. Conduct security audits and penetration testing to assess security posture. Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of network security protocols (TCP/IP, SSL/TLS, VPN, etc.). Experience with security technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, WAF). Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, etc.). Understanding of cloud security concepts and technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP). Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with development, operations, and other teams to ensure security is integrated into the development lifecycle. Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends and threats. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field. Relevant industry certifications (CISSP, CISM, CISA, CCSP, etc.). 5 years of experience in information security. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Fluent English communication Preferred Qualifications: Experience with security automation and orchestration tools. Knowledge of security frameworks (NIST, CIS, ISO 27001).
