Job Description: Position Summary Under the leadership of the department director and in consultation with the Director of Advanced Practice Clinicians, the Oncology Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an expert in cancer care and is responsible for the delivery of cancer care and education that involves compliance with evidence-based clinical standards, outcomes measurement (tracking, analysis, and reporting of clinical, financial, and satisfaction outcomes) and process design (leading initiatives to facilitate practice-based and organizational change). As a member of the Comprehensive Cancer Center, provides direct patient care through implementation of standardized procedures and works collaboratively with the medical team to establish priorities and to assess solutions for patients to ensure they receive the best care possible. The NP functions under general Nurse Practitioner Standardized Procedure approved by the Interdisciplinary Practice Committee (CIDP) and reports to the Director of the Comprehensive Cancer Center. Experience Clinical background in cancer management, as a RN is required. Minimum of 2 years of recent NP experience working with Hematology/Oncology patients is preferred. Excellent communication and leadership skills, as well as organizational, analytical, written and presentation skills. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications is preferred. Education Masters Degree in Nursing required- Exception Nurse Practitioners qualified or certified as an NP in California or any other state prior to January 1, 2008. Relevant Nurse Practitioner training/certification. Licensure/Certifications Must be currently licensed in California as an NP and be certified as a nurse practitioner by a recognized national certifying body that has established standards for nurse practitioners to practice in the State of California. Certification from either ANCC or AANP as a nurse practitioner. Furnishing license issued by the CA Board of Registered Nursing required. At a minimum, ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certificate required. AOCNP certification required within 2 years of hire. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification required. Pay Range
