As a Commodity Manager, you use your wide industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationships to optimize our total cost of ownership for our global -- and growing -- infrastructure. The scale at which Google operates means that savings on just one piece of hardware can have a huge impact on Google's bottom line.You will be responsible for all aspects of supplier development and ongoing performance management regarding Google's cutting-edge technology and business needs. You will develop and execute Google's material acquisition strategy and reduce total cost of ownership for AI/ML, servers, storage and networking hardware, in support of our infrastructure deployment that powers all of Google's services. You will be expected to lead and participate in large projects, as well as understand and resolve issues that put company objectives at risk. You will be a key part of an end-to-end supply chain team that drives continuous improvement and ensures operational excellence in support of Google's rapid growth.Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities Grow and develop a team of Global Commodity Managers to deliver sourcing and supply chain objectives for the hard disk drive storage and power space.Set quarterly and annual objectives and priorities for the team along with resource planning.Develop and execute strategies to achieve total cost of ownership, lead time, capacity, innovation, and quality objectives for the products managed through close collaboration with Google cross-functional teams (e.g., engineering, quality, operations, finance, etc.).Conduct complex strategic technology negotiations including comprehensive contractual agreements to deliver cost, lead time, and capacity objectives for the organization.Implement supply chain and process improvements through supplier performance metrics, scorecards, business continuity plans and regular business reviews.
