Job Description:
The ideal candidate will have experience in focused psychological assessment, including suicide and SUD assessment, and provision of brief evidence-based interventions for a broad range of psychiatric disorders in older adolescents and adults. Clinical work will be located primarily in UAB Emergency Department (ED) setting in partnership with Emergency Medicine physicians and Emergency Psychiatry trained Psychiatrists (Psychiatry Emergency Services- PES Team). The psychologist will also work with ED and hospital interdisciplinary teams to develop behavioral plans for challenging patients. Other duties will include prn inpatient psychological services, including intellectual assessment, brief psychological assessment, and behavioral intervention. Applicants with an interest in behavioral medicine are encouraged to apply. Training and supervision can be provided based on the needs of the applicant. The qualified applicant would have the opportunity to shape and grow this innovative position offering. The qualified applicant would join a rapidly growing group of 20+ psychologists in the UAB Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurobiology, with the opportunity to provide supervision of Medical-Clinical Psychology graduate students, psychology interns, psychiatry residents and psychology/neuropsychology fellows as part of their clinician-educator role.
