The
Manager of Corporate Accounting
will oversee the accounting activities for corporate entities, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements. This role involves managing accounting staff, overseeing the financial close process, and supporting the audit process, among other key responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities Prepare and review monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and reasonableness. Oversee the daily workflow of the corporate accounting department, including supervision of accounting staff and monthly financial close processes. Manage the external audit process. Work with property management teams and other departments to coordinate accounting activities. Oversee the corporate budget and forecasting process, including variance reporting. Support corporate management in preparing quarterly executive books. Reconcile related party and joint venture partner activities, including intercompany balances and distributions. Assist in the review of joint venture documents, loan agreements, and waterfall calculations. Manage and develop accounting staff. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Ensure strong ethical standards and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications 6-7 years of practical accounting experience. Proven management experience, including team building, mentoring, and leadership. Experience with general ledger maintenance, consolidations, and eliminations. Strong knowledge of financial statement preparation, including footnotes. Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance reporting. Background in multifamily real estate accounting and REIT tax compliance. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines. Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with senior management. Collaborative and team-oriented approach to work. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Technical/Educational Requirements Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in accounting. CPA or CPA-qualified preferred. Proficiency with accounting software and technology tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, cloud-based programs).
