Role Overview: As the Director of Merchandising & Optical Business Development, you will have a pivotal role in defining and implementing the merchandising strategy for JMM as well as developing new markets and lines of services within the Eyewear business. You will collaborate with the global team on key commercial strategies and decisions. As part of your business development role, you will play a key role in defining and supporting the execution of commercial and product strategies to enter new and underpenetrated markets in the optical sector (e.g., UAE, Asia). The Role will be reporting to the Global President. Your responsibilities are – but are not limited to: Key Responsibilities: Influence and drive to consensus on all merchandising strategies and objectives related to the Eyewear business.

Liaise with the Creative Team, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Sales to ensure the collection and product assortment is built to optimize the value proposition for each channel/market and maximize available production capacity.

Contribute to bringing customer and market perspective to the design and product development process.

Constantly collaborate with Marketing and Sales to ensure the right product is in the right place at the right time.

Work with Creative Teams to identify brand messaging, product key items, and key looks.

Interpret competitor intelligence provided by sales departments to drive the discussion around the overall merchandising strategy of the Company.

Collaborate with Design and Product Development partners to meet cost targets on all products developed seasonally.

Make recommendations to identify and address product training needs in partnership with Human Resources & the Brand Curator & Trainer.

Collaborate with Finance in managing pricing for each product category and market to ensure appropriate position and maximize profitability.

Define and support the execution of commercial and product strategies to enter new markets in the optical sector.

Set the standards and lead the optimization of optical services throughout our retail network.

Key Requirements: A relevant bachelor’s degree (preferred) or equivalent relevant experience

5+ years of experience in eyewear, jewelry, or accessories as a business leader with major business driving functions including product management, merchandising, or product development

3+ years management experience and success w/ cross functional partnerships.

Industry knowledge, being able to act as a market expert for the business.

Strong business acumen and understanding of financial metrics and profitability analysis.

Strong instinct and passion for product, blending art and science with a consumer centric approach to decision making

Excellent collaboration skills, including a proven ability to communicate with various levels within the organization

Strategic w/ proven ability to grow a category and bring big ideas to market.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines.

Experience product forecasting, statistical modeling and/or strategic planning

Experience in retail sales analysis and interpretation of data to identify opportunities.

Understanding of sales, product design, development, and manufacturing process

High degree of agility and adaptability
