We are seeking an experienced Principal Software Engineer to lead and shape our technical initiatives in ZDX Data & AI. Reporting to the Director of Platform Engineering, you will play a critical role in driving innovation and efficiency across our platform by designing and implementing scalable, secure, and resilient systems. In this role you will: Architect and build robust, scalable, and efficient distributed systems with a focus on an Automation-First, User-Centric, and Resilience-Oriented approach. Leverage your deep knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure to design and optimize cloud-native solutions. Design, deploy, and manage containerized applications using Kubernetes and its ecosystem, ensuring security, high availability, and performance. Demonstrate a deep understanding of the modern TCP/IP stack and manage systems running on Linux. What We're Looking for (Minimum Qualifications):

10+ years of experience in platform engineering with a focus on distributed systems and large-scale production environments. Proficiency in at least one programming language: Go, Python, or Java as well as hands-on experience with cloud providers such as AWS or Azure. Strong expertise in Kubernetes, its associated tools, and ecosystems; particularly in Linux-based environments. Solid understanding of networking protocols, secure network architectures, and advanced Linux-based systems expertise. Familiarity with complex system architectures, design patterns, and tradeoffs. What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):

Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Pulumi. Experience building platforms with a focus on user experience for developers. Familiarity with databases, storage solutions & query engines, both SQL and NoSQL. As well as familiarity with federal IT standards and frameworks (e.g., NIST, FedRAMP). This role will be based in our San Jose, CA office (hybrid, 3 days per week in office).
