Each suite comes with dedicated office spaces (open and private offices or huddle room); fully functional wet lab spaces with dedicated lab support rooms (BSL-2 Tissue Culture or equipment space); lab utilities (RO/DI, Vacuum, backup generator) and a starter lab equipment package. In addition, companies get access to common autoclave/glass wash, shipping and receiving services, and a common lab equipment room for backup cold storage. Clients have internet access and shared copier/business services; shared conference rooms and phone booth; a wellness room; fitness center with showers and lockers; event space; outdoor patio; fully stocked coffee bar, kitchen, and pantry area; security/reception desk; and a dedicated on-site concierge team.
We are seeking a
Laboratory Operations Manager , StudioLabs for our location in San Diego, CA. The Laboratory Operations Manager will have primary responsibility for the daily operations of the facility, managing the office and laboratory requirements for its clients/tenants, as well as providing property management support.
Responsibilities: As part of the Breakthrough Property operations team, work with clients within the StudioLabs facility on daily operational needs Act as the primary interface between the tenants for scheduling the use of all shared equipment. Develop (along with Director, StudioLabs), standard operating procedures and programs for laboratory safety, safety training, chemical inventories, laboratory audits, laboratory operational permits, hazardous waste disposal, and maintain accurate and up-to-date records on all training, permits, and incidents as needed. Coordinate vendor contracts and establish programs for purchasing laboratory supplies and general consumables to be stocked at the facility. Establish and maintain service and maintenance programs on all StudioLabs-owned laboratory and office equipment. Implement technology solutions for visitor management and room bookings Act as concierge and operations point of contact for all visitors to StudioLabs Provide guidance and support to tenants, initiate new services for tenants as required (oversee shipping and receiving and deliveries) Assist tenants with recommending laboratory equipment/systems and coordinate installation of any equipment, assuring that all equipment requirements, including lab utilities and any safety requirements, are met. Coordinate facilities repairs and routine maintenance on shared equipment and be a resource for client-tenant requests. Conduct tenant orientations and onboarding as needed, safety training, and maintain access controls. Accounts Payable – Facilitate processing of invoices utilizing applicable systems Accounts Receivable – Facilitate accounts receivable processes, in accordance with lease terms Assist in the preparation of the periodic financial reports Assist with client experience programming and events in accordance with the annual property budgets Manage contact lists, meeting agendas, and general communications to client companies including property specific information and holiday schedules Facilitate building and suite access, via fobs and access cards Maintain Certificate of Insurance management for all vendor partners and client companies Perform other property management functions required of the position and/or assigned project(s)
Qualifications: 5 + years of experience running a science laboratory. Experience in setting up a new lab is a plus. Prior wet lab bench experience is preferred. Familiarity with the life science industry and local Stanford ecosystem. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and prioritize effectively. Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with individuals at all levels, provide guidance, and great customer service. Must be detail-oriented, organized, and able to consistently deliver timely and accurate results. The base compensation range for this role is $75,000-$85,000 annually. This role is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, as well as access to our comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, life and disability insurance, 401(k) plan (with matching contributions), wellness benefits and all other benefits afforded to full-time Breakthrough employees.
