The Head, GPS Business Continuity Management creates both visions and strategy for ensuring continuity across the global Drug Development and Supply (GPS) business unit. This role will lead the business unit in evolving the guiding principles and embedding capabilities across the critical GPS business functions. Strategies will need to ensure business continuity across both an internal and external manufacturing network, protecting an integrated supply chain generating over $40B in annual revenue. The Head of GPS Business Continuity will be the GPS business unit executive at the BMS Enterprise BCM PMO.
Key Responsibilities: Own the GPS Business Continuity program governance and program management, providing strategic oversight to the BCM leadership team to ensure analysis, development, and implementation of robust readiness. Provide vision and oversight to implement global resiliency and recovery strategies for GPS functions with an emphasis on Commercial Manufacturing and Supply Chain. Provide executive inputs on GPS global commercial inventory management processes. Develop and implement a multi-year business continuity roadmap endorsed at BMS LT and BMS Board of Directors level. Scan the marketplace (both biotech and non-pharma) to continuously identify best-in-class business continuity and resiliency capabilities, compliant with global and national standards/regulations. Develop expertise on key continuity themes in Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Facilities, managing inter-dependencies with Quality, IT (Cybersecurity), and Third Party Risk Management. Drive standard work and simplification through a holistic approach which minimizes disruptions and improves speed of recovery. Play a key integration role across GPS verticals and beyond to ensure coordination and delivery of GPS sustained continuity and resiliency. Lead and develop the team responsible for the coordination of routine updates to the detailed information supporting the business continuity procedures for GPS. Interface with BMS enterprise partners to ensure GPS alignment with corporate BCM program. Lead and develop staff to achieve professional growth and establish a robust succession plan. Minimum Requirements: Education: Master's or advanced degree in Science or Engineering; Master's or advanced degree preferred. Experience/Knowledge: 10 years of bio/pharma experience. Certification: Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) - strong desire. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Highly structured and organized, with strong interpersonal skills. Autonomous and proactive with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Background in business continuity/risk management is an advantage. Operational Excellence green/black belt certification (desired). Capability in business process development and management; effective risk mitigation. Skills/Competencies: Experience with executive-level interactions and influence. Strategic thinking to analyze ambiguous situations and develop a vision/direction. Ability to influence and work in a matrix environment. Strong leadership capability to make and act on decisions while balancing speed, quality, and risk. Advanced project management capabilities.
