The primary purpose of this position is to assist First Commerce in fulfilling our Vision of Empowering Generations, Transforming Communities. This is achieved through delivering Remarkable Member Service as defined by our Service Standards as well as building and maintaining strong member relationships through identification of member's financial needs and effectively recommending appropriate products and services to meet those needs.
The Director of Residential Real Estate Lending is responsible for the leadership and oversight of First Commerce's comprehensive Residential Real Estate Lending program. This includes Mortgage Sales & Product Delivery, Mortgage and Second Mortgage Origination, Mortgage Servicing, Loss Mitigation, Title, and Quality Assurance. The Director's role is crucial in inspiring a team that contributes to membership and loan growth, enhances member experiences, expands market presence, and integrates new technologies. The incumbent will provide strategic and operational guidance aligned with corporate business plans and objectives, establishing First Commerce as a frontrunner in real estate lending products and services, thereby ensuring an exceptional and lasting member experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Leadership: Establish and execute strategic business plans to enhance First Commerce's position in the real estate lending market.
Program Management: Oversee the entire Residential Real Estate Lending program, ensuring integration of all components such as Mortgage Sales, Origination, Servicing, and Quality Assurance.
Team Oversight: Lead and inspire a team of professionals, fostering an environment that encourages growth, innovation, and exceptional performance.
Member Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with members, understanding their financial needs and recommending appropriate real estate lending solutions.
Market Expansion: Identify and pursue opportunities for market expansion to increase the credit union's presence and influence in the real estate sector.
Technology Implementation: Spearhead the adoption of new technologies to streamline operations and improve the member experience in real estate lending.
Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators to ensure targets are met and identify areas for improvement within the lending program.
Risk Management: Implement effective risk management strategies to protect the interests of the credit union and its members.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all lending activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
Financial Oversight: Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation to ensure fiscal responsibility.
Financial Analysis: Conduct thorough financial analysis to inform decision-making and support the sustainable growth of the lending portfolio.
Policy Management: Maintain policies that align with the organization's vision and objectives.Exercising oversight and accountability to operational compliance with policies.
Leadership Duties:
Senior Management Team - Active participant on the senior management team fulfilling the charter.
Strategic Planning: Participate in the development and execution of long-term strategies to ensure the organization's growth and sustainability.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work collaboratively with different departments to foster a unified approach to achieving organizational goals.
Talent Management: Guide talent acquisition, development, and retention strategies to build a high-performing management team.
Operational Excellence: Drive continuous improvement in operational processes to enhance efficiency and service quality.
Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders, including board members, investors, and community leaders, to build strong relationships and partnerships.
Performance Measurement: Establish performance metrics and review systems to ensure accountability and progress towards strategic objectives.
Change Leadership: Lead and manage organizational change initiatives to adapt to market shifts and emerging opportunities.
Mentorship and Development: Mentor emerging leaders within the organization, fostering a culture of professional growth and leadership development.
Crisis Management: Provide leadership and direction during crisis situations to maintain stability and continuity of operations.
Other Responsibilities:
Performs job duties in accordance with policies established by the Board of Directors under the rules and regulations set by the National Credit Union Administration, the State of Florida and any applicable State laws for financial centers located in other States.
Complies with Reg E, BSA, OFAC and CIP requirements such as reporting suspicious or unusual activity to manager.
Fully supports in actions and words First Commerce's Vision, Mission, Core Values and Service Standards.
Attends meetings timely and as required; reports to work as scheduled and adheres to First Commerce's dress code.
Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent analytical skills.
Strong supervisory, team management and leadership skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills
If not already proficient, must develop in-depth knowledge of such systems as Symitar, FICS, Dealer Track, Meridian Link, and other lending-related systems as implemented.
Maintain an understanding of credit union industry loan policies to be able to revise and update internal policies, as well the following regulations: Truth in Lending, HMDA, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Uniform Commercial Code, HUD, RESPA, Fair Housing Act, CFPB, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act as well as lending related laws and other NCUA and state regulations.
Ability to understand and solve problems, analyze, and interpret data, manage multiple projects with competing deadlines, and be detail oriented.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 4-year college degree in Business, Finance, or a related field of study.
Must have 10+ years in real estate and mortgage lending with at least 5 years in management role.
Proven track record in strategic planning, business development, and financial management.
Certifications: Relevant certification such as Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB), Certified Real Estate Professional (CREP) are highly desirable.
Active NMLS registration and state-specific licenses as required in Florida and Georgia.
