A prominent intellectual property law firm is seeking a skilled and motivated Biotechnology Patent Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate will leverage scientific expertise in molecular biology, biochemistry, biomedical sciences, or a closely related field to assist in the preparation, prosecution, and analysis of biotechnology-related patent applications. Location
Duties
Patent Prosecution:
Assist with the preparation and prosecution of patent applications related to biotechnology and life sciences. Research and Analysis:
Apply scientific principles to analyze technologies and conduct in-depth research to support patent filings. Client Collaboration:
Work closely with clients to understand their technologies and provide expert advice on patent strategy, patentability, and protection. Patent Portfolio Management:
Assist clients in managing their patent portfolios and navigating complex patent prosecution processes. Legal Advice:
Provide counsel on patent law, including patentability opinions, infringement analysis, and post-grant proceedings. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with other attorneys and technical experts to develop comprehensive patent strategies for clients. Requirements
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a patent attorney or patent agent, with a focus on biotechnology or life sciences. Proven experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Education:
Doctorate (Ph.D.) in molecular biology, biochemistry, biomedical sciences, or a closely related scientific field.
Licensing:
Must be registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) as a Patent Attorney. If not yet registered, candidates must be enrolled in law school with plans to take the Patent Bar Exam.
Education
Ph.D.
in molecular biology, biochemistry, biomedical sciences, or a related field from an accredited institution. Certifications and Skills
Certification:
Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) or plans to take the Patent Bar Exam.
Skills:
Strong technical background in biotechnology or life sciences. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear and concise patent applications. In-depth knowledge of patent law and the patent prosecution process. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a collaborative environment. Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
