Job Description - Research Lab Tech I, Thoracic Surgery (3297172)
Working independently, under general supervision from Dr. Bueno, Dr. Khalil, and Senior Research Manager, the Research Lab Tech I executes protocols involving a variety of routine and non-routine experiments at a professional level. May identify new techniques and develop modifications of existing techniques, as appropriate. In collaboration with other members of the research team, gives input to the development of design protocols.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for data collection, management, manipulation, analysis, and reporting. Independently performs routine and non-routine experiments which are moderate to complex, including specific assays such as tissue culture, PCR, Real-Time PCR, and nucleic acid extraction. Performs literature searches and helps to prepare presentations and written articles for publication. In collaboration with PI or Senior Research Manager, establishes new and modifies existing research techniques. Coordinates lab activities such as bio-safety activities, ordering activities, and general organization of the lab. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications:
BS or BA. New graduate with relevant course or project work. Must be well-organized and detail-oriented with good computer skills. Time-management, multitasking, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, developing organization are essential. Careful attention to details. Good organizational skills. Ability to follow directions. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to demonstrate professionalism. Computer literacy. Working knowledge of research protocols. Wet lab experience including but not limited to histological staining and image analysis. Basic statistics knowledge required; experience in R or R studio preferred. Strong Excel skills.
