IPC International, Inc., the global trade association for the electronics manufacturing industry, seeks a Vice President, Communications. This individual will play a critical role in positioning IPC as a driving influence in the world by promoting its positive effects and serve as an integral member of the executive team. The VP will be responsible for the development of IPC's communication strategy through partnerships, events, media outreach, social media, public affairs campaigns, and brand building initiatives. This new leader will oversee communications programs designed to continuously highlight IPC's contributions to policymakers and key stakeholders. Overall, this new executive will help to elevate industry's profile and position IPC as a critical partner.
Reporting to the CEO, the VP will have an influential role within the IPC leadership team and will be charged with providing both strategic and hands-on tactical execution of IPCs communication efforts. IPC seeks a leader who will lead the development, integration, and implementation of a broad range of communications activities aligned with the strategic direction and positioning of the organization and its leadership. This leader will accomplish these efforts both with internal direct reports and program leads as well as with external partners. The new VP will be accountable for timely and impactful deliverables that will, heighten the value of the association to key stakeholders globally, and advance the association's mission.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership
Provides leadership and direction to the Communications staff through measurable results. Will be forward-thinking, responsive and customer service oriented. Leads by example and inspires and influences their team, colleagues, and IPC's members to achieve organizational goals. Maintains broad knowledge of all aspects of communication, PR disciplines, and has AI foundational skills. Develops and implements integrated strategic communications plans to advance the association's mission and strategic initiatives and broaden the value of and awareness for the Board's programs. Creates public relations strategies that allow IPC leadership to cultivate and enhance meaningful relationships with targeted stakeholder audiences. Primary steward of the association's reputation: responsible for ensuring key internal and affiliate association stakeholders understand how their plans and actions impact the overall organization's reputation as well as that of its members and the industry it represents to its global audiences. Identifies challenges and emerging issues and works collaboratively with the executive team, Board directors and staff to facilitate communication opportunities, POVs and solutions. Seeks alignment on messaging, positioning, storytelling, and execution for the organization with other areas including but not limited to Marketing, Member Success, Government Relations, Industry Intelligence, etc. Assures relevant quality assurance practices and measures are implemented. Supports the Board of Directors as a communication consultant on external affairs and internal communications. Team Management
Advises on activities relating to communications initiatives, staff, and work in all geographies. Recruits and leads communications and PR staff to support the development and execution of the association's communications strategy. Promotes a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality. Mentors and develops staff using a supportive and collaborative approach on a consistent basis. Establishes and monitors staff performance and development goals, including setting objectives. establishing priorities and conducting performance reviews. Management and Oversight
Develops strategic vision for communications to support and align with organizational priorities, including serving as an organizational ambassador and resource for communicators in other geographies. Serves as a strong leader and manager of people, budgets, and projects. Looks for new ways to creatively identify, implement and promote industry initiatives and partnerships to achieve strategic and legislative goals for the organization. Oversees and participates in the design and development of all print and electronic communications, ensuring the delivery of strategic, high-quality, and timely deliverables to reach key audiences. Responsible for oversight and maintenance of the news center on the IPC website ensuring it supports media's needs about the organization. Acts as organization spokesperson when needed for live, taped or email interviews and related statements. Oversees development of talking points, speeches, presentations, and other supporting material. Provides strategy, expertise and input on proactive, reactive, and over-the-transom media inquiries and executive visibility opportunities. Navigates organization through communications issues and crises; provides ongoing counsel on positioning the organization strongly for all stakeholders. Ensures all external communications, including feedback received from industry stakeholders, are appropriately shared internally to foster strong communications and a collective understanding of the association's and industry's identity and image. Travels to support association operations, including exhibit booths and board meetings, representing public relations and communications subject matter expertise. Sets, tracks, and reports out on success metrics that measure the effectiveness of communications campaigns and initiatives. Provides communications and presentation counsel and/or support for directors and senior executives. Financial Management
Develops and maintains the annual budget for the department consistent with the association's business plans and established financial guidelines. Responsible for monitoring and managing team's activities and costs and reporting impact to the association's executive team and board. REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in a management role, including the oversight of organizational communications or projects, in the public relations and/or communications field. Comprehensive knowledge of business principles and techniques of management. Experience developing and implementing multi-faceted communications and public relations plans and delivering successful results. Oversight of content management on internal and external channels. Experience managing teams, internal and external agency partners. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite & SharePoint, Adobe Creative Suite, CRM and AI tools. Familiarity with electronics and non-profit organizations/associations desirable. Ability to travel, domestic & international, up to 25%.
