Management Job Summary The Vice President, Strategic Communications Business Partners position oversees the team of communicators responsible for strategic business communications, supporting internal communications for the CEO, Chairman, and corporate discipline Executive Vice Presidents (EVP) (i.e., the Senior Leadership Team (SLT)). This position oversees all executive, organizational, and internal communications across corporate disciplines, ensuring alignment and consistency in messaging. This role will drive strategic communications for high-priority projects under the Growing Forward strategy and will ensure the team collaborates with senior leaders to maintain updated corporate talking points and executive profiles. A key responsibility for this role is to develop best-in-class communications practices and partner with creative teams to elevate messaging. CANDIDATE PROFILE Required Bachelor's degree, preferably with a concentration in Communications, Journalism, English, or Marketing. An exceptional portfolio reflecting 12+ years of communications experience in internal communications; knowledge about the hospitality business preferred. Demonstrated depth of experience in working with executive and senior leadership communications and success working with members of the leadership team in fast-paced situations. Executive communications skills, both verbal and written. Ability to develop and implement highly effective strategic and measurable communications plans. Creative problem-solving skills and excellent time management. Outstanding interpersonal skills to effectively build relationships and interact with associates at all levels within the organization and with the general public. Ability to routinely work from the HQ office in Bethesda. Preferred Master’s degree in communications, Journalism, English, Marketing or related field. CORE WORK ACTIVITIES Lead a team of dedicated Strategic Business Communications Partners to support the CEO, Chairman, and corporate discipline EVPs. Oversee all executive, organizational, and internal communications activities across the corporate disciplines and lead the Senior Directors assigned to these areas. Partner across the SLT to ensure these executives have a clear and connected messaging strategy aligned to the Growing Forward strategy and their respective areas of oversight. Partner with Managing VP, Global Internal Communications; Senior VP, Global Corporate Communications; and EVP, Global Chief Communications & Public Affairs Officer on CEO, Chairman, and SLT leader executive profiles to ensure consistent messaging strategies across internal/external audiences. Assign work and oversee all strategic communications for projects/initiatives prioritized and assigned under the Growing Forward strategy. Ensure best-in-class communications practices are developed, socialized, and administered across the team – acting as a visible leader within Global Internal Communications and trusted partner across Marriott’s broader senior leadership. Partner with Sr. Director, Business Operations Communications to identify opportunities for hotel, owner, and associate messaging – anchored in Growing Forward strategy, corporate disciplines, and SLT communications strategies. Partner with Director, Creative & Content to oversee development of compelling and engaging creative and visuals to elevate communications for the SLT, Corporate disciplines, and Growing Forward strategy. Partner with Sr. Director, Channels to ensure best-in-class practices are used for communications channels and in using data and analytics to drive channel strategy for strategic communications projects. Develop and oversee an integrated end-to-end process for Board of Directors presentations across the SLT, incorporating best practices and review standards. Embody the strategic, interpersonal, and trusted skills of a communications business partner to set the example for how this team operates and elevates work across the enterprise. Embrace new technology and innovative communications methods and platforms as part of evolving internal communications at Marriott. The salary range for this position is $177,075 to $260,100 annually.
