Classification Title: Marketing and Communications Specialist III
Job Description: Established in 2022, the Hamilton Center for Classical and Civic Education is a multidisciplinary academic unit whose purpose is to support teaching and research concerning the ideas, traditions, and texts that shape Western civilization and American values and institutions. The Center also seeks to promote civil discourse and the ethics of citizenship, and to prepare students to see past their horizons and prepare for a lifetime of leadership and meaningful careers.
The Hamilton Center is seeking a dynamic Marketing and Communications Specialist to develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy. This highly independent role is responsible for overseeing internal communications, social media strategy, content creation, media relations, and marketing efforts. Additionally, the position involves content creation for print and digital media, campaign analytics, event promotion, and occasional conference support. A successful candidate will have strong writing skills, social media expertise, and the ability to work autonomously and in teams.
Primary duties include:
Developing and executing internal and external communication strategies, including content creation for social media, newsletters, websites, and email campaigns. Managing media relations, including pitching stories, responding to media inquiries, and coordinating media events. Analyzing campaign data to measure performance, optimize strategies, and communicate results to leadership. Expected Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree and six years of relevant experience; or an Associate's degree and eight years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred education, experience, and skills include:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Humanities, or a related field (Master's preferred). Marketing and communications focus on academic, humanities, or student-centered campaigns. Proven ability to develop and execute communication strategies in a higher education environment, especially for new academic units or programs. Experience creating engaging content for diverse audiences (students, faculty, prospective students, alumni) and using social media to build academic brand presence. Strong understanding of academic trends, student engagement, and the unique challenges of marketing in a university setting.
