This is a
Promotional and Open
recruitment to establish an eligibility list and fill vacancies. The eligibility list will be used to fill permanent vacancies which may occur during the life of the eligibility list. In a promotional and open recruitment, the promotional list shall take precedence. When the promotional list contains fewer than three eligible and willing employees, certification of additional ranks shall then be made from the open list.
Positions in this classification are full-time 40 hours per week, 12 months per year.

BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of a Classified or Certificated administrator, install, maintain, build and repair District computers and network equipment and peripherals to enhance the quality of established curriculum and prevent service interruption of equipment. FUNCTION & DUTIES
Prioritize emergency calls determining safety hazards and methods and procedures for their correction. E
Schedule work to be completed by contacting principals, department heads and teachers so that educational priorities and processes will not be interrupted. E
Schedule and perform preventive maintenance on computers, networks, and ancillary equipment. E
Troubleshoot local and wide area networks to assure maximum network performance and reliability. E
Assist personnel with software-related issues, including, but not limited to, operating systems, applications, and networking software both in person and over the phone, utilizing remote support capabilities when appropriate. E
Consult with vendors and District personnel regarding timely and cost-efficient completion of District projects. E
Coordinate efforts of outside vendors and District personnel to reach desired standardization of equipment and processes. E
Assist with the training of District staff in the operation of computers, tablets, and related peripheral equipment and software. E
Install cables necessary for computer systems, networks and microcomputers throughout the District, coordinating with other departments to incorporate cabling needs to department standards. E
Utilize a variety of electronic test equipment to determine defects and malfunctions; replace defective components and wiring using a wide variety of hand tools and equipment. E
Maintain a variety of delivery, repair and supply records. E
Drive a District service vehicle to and from work sites; coordinate and direct the work of helpers as assigned. E
May build desktop computers using an inventory of pre-made computer components. E
May enter technology related equipment into inventory tracking system and deliver technology related equipment to sites. E
May be responsible for maintaining equipment, parts and tool inventory.
May receive telephone calls and requests through an automated work order system from users requesting assistance in solving problems, obtaining technology services or guidance in technology utilization.
Perform related duties as assigned.

Personal computer hardware, including Macintosh and Intel-based platforms. MAC OS 10 and higher. Windows Operating Systems version 7 and higher. Utilize electronic testing equipment to determine defects and malfunctions. Work from plans, technical manuals, schematics, diagrams and specifications. Share knowledge in area of expertise with other employees to provide cross-training. Exercise appropriate judgment in the course of duties. Meet schedules and timelines. Any combination equivalent to: College or technical school coursework in the information technology field and three years' journey-level experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of networks, computer systems, peripherals, and related equipment.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid California driver's license. Must be, and remain, insurable under the District's vehicle driver's insurance policy at the standard rate.

The District offers two excellent medical plans,

(VSP). Currently full-time employees (employees working 6 hours or more per day) pay 20% of the premium cost for these plans. All plans are available to the employees and their dependents. This coverage is available to employees working a minimum of 20 hours per week.
Retirement benefits include membership in
CalPERS
(California Public Employee's Retirement System) and
Social Security
(OASDI). This is a joint contribution plan. To qualify for CalPERS an employee must work a minimum of 20 hours per week or already be a member, if not the employee is eligible for an alternative retirement plan.
Additionally, the District encourages employees to pursue professional growth, and provides financial incentive for classified employees completing professional growth programs. Additional benefits available to employees to which the District does not contribute include life insurance, a Section 125 Flexible Benefit Plan, an income protection plan, and a credit union.
Substitute employees are not eligible for vacation or holiday pay but are eligible to earn sick leave at the rate of one hour per 30 hours worked, not to exceed 48 hours. Further, substitute employees are not automatically eligible for CalPERS or District health benefits.
