Job Goals: The Computer Technician Supervisor supports and facilitates a systematic process to deliver outstanding customer service support to all end users in School District 8. This individual leads and coordinates the efforts of a team of technicians in installing and maintaining computer systems, software, configurations, diagnosis, repairing, and upgrading district technology, hardware, software, peripherals, and other equipment to ensure optimal performance of all systems district wide.
Essential Job Functions: 1. Coordinates the efforts of the computer technician team through a systematic process designed to facilitate and enhance the department’s productivity and efficiency in maintaining systems district wide. 2. With direction from the Jr. & Sr. Systems Managers, designs and coordinates a systematic process to collect, update, service and deploy systems on a large scale. 3. Ensure the department standards of outstanding customer service are consistently met or exceeded by the team of computer technicians. 4. Leads a team of technicians through active leadership in providing excellent customer service that is kind, courteous, timely, efficient, and solution oriented to all end users (staff, students, parents & guests). 5. Train and supervise temporary computer technician interns. 6. Respond to end-user incidents, requests and problems through a defined process within the infrastructure. 7. Performs on-site analysis, diagnoses, and resolves complex computer problems for a variety of end-users, and recommends and implements corrective solutions. 8. Receives and responds to incoming emails/phone calls or work orders regarding computer, software, and other technology related problems. 9. Ensures the accurate documentation of work orders, and user assistance requests, hardware failures, repairs, installations, and equipment removals in the Technology Departments work order system. 10. With direction from the Jr. & Sr. Systems Managers, coordinates the successful installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of computer hardware, software and peripheral devices. 11. Recommends, and implements schedules to perform computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment improvements, and upgrades. 12. Coordinates and implements procedures for gathering and maintaining hardware and software inventory data as established by the IT department. 13. With direction from the Jr. & Sr. Systems Managers, supports development and implementation of new computer projects, as well as new software and hardware installations. 14. Assists in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future computer hardware needs. 15. Collaborates with third-party support and computer equipment vendors 16. Helps oversee and maintain the district inventory system and Google Administration Console. 17. Perform other duties as assigned.
Technical Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:Ability to demonstrate the use of computer equipment, software, and peripherals to students and staff 1. Proficient in computer hardware diagnostics and repair 2. Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications 3. Knowledge of technologies available for use in instructional settings 4. Good organizational skills 5. Effective communication skills (oral & written) 6. Demonstrate aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities 7. Excellent problem-solving skills 8. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time 9. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a keyboard, mouse, hand and power tools, and to handle computer components for extended periods of time 10. Excellent interpersonal skills 11. Highly self motivated and directed 12. Ability to lift and transport heavy to moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals, up to 70 pounds
Materials and Equipment Operating Knowledge: 1. Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals 2. Knowledge of basic computer concepts, networking, and the Internet 3. Knowledge of Windows 11, Microsoft Office, and Outlook—able perform basic tasks with these applications such as word processing, sending email, etc. 4. Working knowledge of basic hardware such as printers, projectors, scanners, and media storage 5. Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as telephones, copier, fax machine, E-mail, etc. 6. Operating knowledge of PC operating systems through Windows 11 and Chrome OS required for hire
Salary: Computer Technician Supervisor is on the Supplemental Salary Schedule. - FFC8 allows new hires to bring in up to 8 years of previous experience in similar school type settings - Please understand that new hires tend to start out at the lower end of the salary range.
