Job Summary
The Director Reliability Engineering will guide GAF through its Maintenance Transformation process and provide sustained leadership as the head of the Reliability Team. The candidate must possess sound knowledge and demonstrated experience of world-class maintenance performance in continuous manufacturing environments, preferably within the building materials industry. The director will play a key role in the formal development of the Reliability program which includes the adoption of policy, procedures, workflows, and best practices. The director will lead a team of corporate reliability engineers and technicians who are responsible for the strategic and tactical execution of the Reliability program across all manufacturing locations. The director and the reliability team are responsible for the establishment and continuous evaluation of KPIs to gauge maintenance performance. The reliability team shall ensure maintenance best practices are defined and implemented across all sites, with regular evaluation and communication of performance metrics. The team shall utilize Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to understand and deploy the optimum level of preventive measures and predictive technologies to effectively reduce risk to operations and improve quality, at the lowest cost. The team shall utilize root cause failure analysis (RCFA), failure reporting, analysis, and corrective action system (FRACAS), and similar methods to investigate and address equipment failures. The director shall foster a collaborative environment with the site maintenance teams and provide direct, on-site assistance as required. Influence and guide further enrichment and deployment of Maximo in Reliability and Machine failure history. Lead and implement PM Review and Optimization efforts with the site Reliability Engineers to improve PM effectiveness, reduce manpower/labor needed to execute PM strategy, and offset inspection based tasks to the operators. Establish and deploy asset hierarchy standardization across all sites, with uniform taxonomy, asset classification, failure cause codes, and remedy codes. Establish KPIs, performance targets, and goals for Maintenance. Leverage data analysis such as statistical process control, six sigma, or fault tree. Implement and lead a failure reporting, analysis, and corrective action system (FRACAS). Develop a root cause analysis (RCFA) program. Lead engineering efforts to address recurring failures. Evaluate the current state and recommend adoption of new technologies, materials, tools, and industry best practices. Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the Maintenance department. Review and analyze cost reports related to maintenance activities, ensuring transparency and accountability. Provide support and assistance as needed for troubleshooting and correcting equipment and process issues. Establish, communicate, and implement operations-related policies, practices, standards, safety, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent service delivery, support, and execution in alignment with GBS (GAF Business Systems). Collaborates with multi-disciplinary functions that contribute to asset care: Maintenance, Warehousing/Materials Management, Operations, Procurement, and Capital Engineering. Contribute to the successful integration of the CMMS with SAP HANA. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field required. Minimum of 15+ years manufacturing experience with a demonstrated history of management roles in Maintenance or Engineering. In-depth knowledge of maintenance best practices, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Practical knowledge and experience utilizing world class manufacturing techniques. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a data-driven approach to decision-making. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across various departments and levels of the organization. Proven financial acumen to manage budgets and optimize resources effectively. Physical Demands
