Company: Qualcomm Incorporated Job Area: Finance & Accounting Group, Finance & Accounting Group > Technical Accounting General Summary: The Manager of Technical Accounting is a key leader of the Corporate Accounting Practices and Reporting group. This role is responsible for: Preparing and filing quarterly, annual, and other financial reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Collaborating closely with Qualcomm’s business units and corporate functions to determine and document the proper accounting treatment of complex and/or new types of transactions. Leading projects to assist and advise business units and corporate functions on accounting for acquisitions and dispositions, implementing new accounting guidance, etc. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical accounting and financial reporting, including 5+ years of experience in a Big Four accounting firm. This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently, and the capability to influence key organizational decisions. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field. 7+ years of Technical Accounting, Financial Reporting, or related work experience. Completed advanced degrees in a relevant field may be substituted for up to two years (Master’s = one year, Doctorate = two years) of work experience. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in tech industry. Experience with XBRL tagging. Aptitude for systems (e.g., WDesk, Oracle, HFM, Microsoft) and accounting process flows. Experience working in a large, matrixed organization. Technical leadership role with or without direct reports. 3+ years in a Big Four Accounting firm. CPA Certification or country equivalent. Level of Responsibility: Works independently with no supervision. Provides supervision to other supervisors/managers who are direct reports. Decision-making is critical in nature and highly impacts program, product or project success. Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey highly complex and/or detailed information. May require strong negotiation and influence with large groups or high-level constituents. Has a great degree of influence over key organizational decisions. Tasks often require multiple steps which can be performed in various orders; extensive planning, problem-solving, and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively.
