Responsibilities You will perform defensive cyber operations is responsible for protecting an organization's networks, systems, and data from cyberthreats, including identifying, analyzing, and mitigating potential security risks and vulnerabilities. You will coordinate with other Cyber professionals from OPNAV, Fleet Cyber Command, Fleet Readiness Directorate, Engineering, NAVWAR Program Offices, NAVWAR Information Warfare Centers, and other SYSCOMs. You will develop and implement security policies, procedures, and best practices to improve the overall security posture of the organization. You will collaborate with other teams within the organization, including IT, operations, and business units, to ensure that security measures are integrated throughout the organization. You will keep up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in cyber security, including emerging threats, technologies, and best practices. You will respond to security incidents, including conducting investigations, assessing the scope and impact of the incident, and implementing remediation actions. You will monitor and analyze network traffic to detect and respond to potential threats, including malware, phishing attempts, and other cyber-attacks. You will conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify potential weaknesses in an organization's systems and networks. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing information systems security management, audits, and reviews; conducting IT risk, vulnerability analysis and assessment and cyber incident response. Education Additional Information This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. This position is in the Personnel Demonstration Project under authority of Title VII of the Civil Service Reform Act of 1978. The pay schedule and pay band for all Demonstration Project Professional Positions will be DP-1/2/3/4. This position is eligible for part time, full time or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
