We are seeking a dynamic and talented Commercial Finance Director to work collaboratively with and as a business partner to our Commercial leadership teams in the Americas region. The Commercial Finance Director leads a team of analysts responsible for the financial planning, forecasting and reporting of our commercial activities across a diverse range of end markets, product technologies and customers. This individual is a key leader responsible for ensuring sound strategies are developed, and then executed, to achieve profitable growth. As a member of the Finance team, the Commercial Finance Director also interacts with operations, plant finance teams, SIOP leaders and executive leaders of the business to ensure commercial strategies and forecasts are in sync with other functional plans.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate in this newly created position will be hiring and developing a team that will become part of the Americas BU Finance team. High energy and team-orientation are hallmarks of the broader finance team and will be expected from both the new Director and their team.

Specific responsibilities will include:

Strategy and Planning

  • Lead creation of commercial aspects of the Americas business units annual strategic planning process.
  • Work with commercial leaders to vet strategies and ensure growth plans are aligned with and optimized to MCCs organic growth opportunities.
  • Work with the commercial, marketing and innovation teams to ensure MCC strategies and growth opportunities are prioritized toward those that create the greatest shareholder value.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process for the Commercial team, ensuring that plans are consistent with long term growth and profitability targets.
  • Work with commercial team so budgets are clear at multiple dimensions include account, technology, end market and manufacturing location.
  • Align annual budget with other sources of forward-looking references available, including internal SIOP data, commercial pipeline data and market information.

Business Partnership and Leadership

  • Engage with commercial leadership on contract review and longer-term account analysis of top 30 accounts on regular basis.
  • Partner with commercial leadership on commercial pipeline performance evaluation and help create and track metrics.
  • Partner with commercial leadership to continuously improve sales performance metrics.
  • Improve alignment to SIOP team, particularly demand planning.
  • Vet and evaluate revenue assumptions included in growth based capital investment requests.
  • Develop, lead and manage a team of financial analysts in pursuit of the teams goals and objectives.

Forecasting

  • Lead the monthly revenue forecasting process, working to ensure inputs from commercial, SIOP and plant sources are built into the regular process. Provide clear analysis indicating variances vs. budgeted and PY performance.
  • Work with IT, and the regional/global finance teams to refine and improve the tools and reporting used to develop regular forecasts. Improve site understanding of leading indicators for demand.
  • Work with the SIOP team to improve alignment between revenue forecasts and order activity, and volume and revenue indicators.
  • Work with commercial and BU finance teams to expand the horizon of the regular forecasting process.

Reporting

  • Work with commercial team to derive and explain the why of account performance on a regular basis, and feed that knowledge back into the business planning cycle. Improve incorporation of customer insights into MCC commercial performance reporting.
  • Create consumable revenue performance reporting across multiple dimensions; work with commercial team and other stakeholders to develop insights on performance drivers across markets, technologies and geographies.
  • Improve evaluation of performance by end market; link MCC performance to end market macro indicators, including customer, supplier and competitor performance on quarterly basis.
  • Working global pricing team to improve the price performance tracking by account into revenue and P&L analysis

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of proven success in a manufacturing or distribution environment with track record of progressive responsibilities in finance and accounting functions
  • Preference for leader who has spent 3+ years in commercial finance role with dimensional complexity similar to MCCs business.
  • Development of core leadership skills to be able to help the growth of the organization.
  • BS degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal), strong listening skills and attention to detail
  • Proactive, self-starter, solutions focused and requiring little supervision
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office, in particular: required knowledge of Excel, creation and use of pivot tables; preference for candidates with working knowledge of Power BI, Hyperion EPM Suite, and QlikView.
