Salary range: The salary range for this position is $51,300-$54,600. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table [https://sites.uci.edu/academicpersonnel/files/2023/02/spec-v2.pdf]. "Off-scale salaries", i.e. a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.

The appointment is for 35% of time.

Position description

The UC Irvine Department of Orthopaedic Surgery anticipates openings for a Junior Specialist position in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, School of Medicine, at the University of California, Irvine. We are seeking qualified individuals who are excellent in research with a strong commitment to medical education. The position will be offered in the Specialist Series at the Junior Specialist level. The position is for 35% of appointment.

The mission of the Global Spine Research Initiative (GSRI) at UC Irvine is to address global disparities in spine surgical care through research and education. The GSRI offers a one-year opportunity for exceptional third and fourth-year US medical students interested in orthopaedic surgery, global health and spine surgery. The Irvine Global Spine Research Fellow can expect to participate in 20-30 research projects, both domestically and internationally. 10% of UC Irvine faculty will provide mentorship for the residency application process as well as a career in orthopaedic surgery.
