General Information: Hitachi Energy is seeking a Quality Systems Manager (QSM) within our North American Power Grid - Transformer (PGTR) organization at the Alamo, TN facility. Areas of focus will include internal auditing to assess compliance with the system and coordination of internal (inclusive of site & global audits), customer and external, third-party audits by an accredited party. In addition, the QMS (Quality Management System) Manager will be a key participant in the design, development, governance, and administration of the enterprise quality information system. The Quality Systems Manager will develop and sustain the Quality Management System in line with the required industry standards (including: ISO14001 / ISO 9001), accreditation requirements and business requirements across the organization through existing and new procedures. The Quality Systems Manager will report to the Quality Director and will be accountable for delivering tangible results in support of business plan objectives that eliminate wastes, improve quality, and achieve a stable, predictable process. Your Responsibilities: Assess the elements within the quality management system and related business processes to determine interactions, information flow, and critical business needs. Design and architect cross-functional processes and execute holistic solutions that provide efficient, seamless and information driven workflow. Transition the QMS from a compliance-driven system to an integrated workflow of information that drives process improvement and preventive actions. Lead cross-functional design efforts between Quality, Engineering, IT (Information Technology), Operations and Procurement as they relate to electronic process design of our central quality system. Drive significant reductions in cycle time in all released quality processes while improving design, supply chain and manufacturing processes as well as overall product quality and reliability. Provide direction and serve as a key participant in the global deployment and governance of QMS electronic solutions (EtQ). Lead and coordinate the execution of internal system audits. Contribute to new business initiatives, projects, and review while communicating the impact on Quality Management Systems (QMS). Develop and drive compliance to quality standards and the continual improvement in quality performance (e.g., reduction of variation; sustainability, service/delivery performance). Manage all external registration requirements to ensure they are met. Liaise with external bodies on all matters relating to registration. Maintain and improve, in line with business needs and verify closure of non-conformities with Certification Bodies. Ensure that all in-house systems and procedures are updated, revised, and modified to meet the needs of external certification bodies. Manage the audit non-conformity database, provide detailed analysis of nonconformities and conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department. Ensure KPIs (Key Performance Indicator) are met by working on the overall plan, including management of, and reporting. Coordinate & facilitate the deployment of core quality tools inclusive of the creation and updating of PFMEA, Control Plans, etc. Assignments require thorough understanding of standard engineering concepts / principles, and in-depth knowledge of quality assurance programs & procedures. This role also requires the ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, customers, and internal groups (this may be necessary to negotiate changes and influence decisions). Key contact between auditing parties and the Alamo site team. Manage the audit program to ensure that all nonconformities raised against certification bodies during audits are effectively corrected and independently verified. Embed a culture of continuous improvement throughout the company. Lead the team to achieve quality management system targets for customers and business goals. It also requires the ability to make decisions on quality matters, subject to general overview. Your Background: Bachelor's degree in quality, math sciences, or engineering. 6 plus years' experience working in engineering, manufacturing, and/or quality. Detailed understanding of the ISO-9001 standards (expertise in related industry standards will also be considered). Internal Lead auditor certification is a plus. Recent professional experience working in Quality functions in a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in MS Office 365, including intermediate and advanced Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Strong analytical skills, knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes, standard work, and process control plans. Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States. Preferred Qualifications: Strong analytical skills, especially with data analysis, are highly preferred - proven experience working with FMEA (Failure Modes & Effects Analysis). Recent experience working with data-driven analytical methodologies for industrial quality applications - especially Statistical Process Control [SPC], Six Sigma, Process Capability (Cp, CpK), and/or Process Performance (Pp, PpK) Analysis. Experience working with Process Improvement and/or Continuous Improvement practices (e.g., APQP, Kaizen, 8D, 4Q, DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve & Control), Gemba, Root-Cause Analysis [RCA (Root Cause Analysis)]; etc.). ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE). Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) in English. Experience with Minitab, SharePoint, Power BI, and SAP is desired. Demonstrated ability to think strategically, design and execute an Enterprise Quality Information System, and to define integration strategies with other enterprise software applications. Experience in leadership, supervisory or management roles is a plus.
