The primary focus of the Real Estate Counsel will be real estate transactions, real estate financings, and leases.
How You’ll Make a Difference
Strong experience in sophisticated real estate and financing transactions, as well as with private equity real estate joint ventures and real estate investment funds. Knowledge of real estate law, title, and zoning. Previous experience with commercial leases, cell tower leases and billboard leases is a plus. Ability to draft, review and negotiate purchase and sale agreements, financing documents, property management agreements, corporate organizational documents, and joint venture agreements. Remarkable ability to handle multiple transactions simultaneously. Superior analytical, written and verbal communication skills. Previous experience with construction related documents is a plus. Education: The successful candidate will have an excellent academic record, hold a law degree from a top-tier ABA-accredited American law school and be a member of an American State Bar, preferably in the State of California. Experience: Approximately 1-3 years of commercial real estate experience at a top-tier law firm or corporate legal department. The experience will include in-depth knowledge of all aspects of commercial property acquisition and development, including contract drafting and negotiation, land use, lease review, title review, due diligence, construction, SPE formation, project financing, and real estate joint ventures structures and documentation. Superior organizational skills with the ability to allocate one’s time effectively, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines, outstanding business judgment, and a proven track record of working independently with minimal supervision; ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities; ability to prioritize workload; and an ability to work at a detailed level. Ability to work across organizational lines. Strong negotiating and deal-making skills combined with the ability to deal effectively with and manage outside legal counsel. Demonstrated ability to work creatively and cooperatively in a fast-paced environment and to respond immediately to issues. Understanding of the legal ramifications of any given issue and the ability to articulate the risk to the management team. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) including active listening. Relationship skills : ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships – both internal and external. Proven skills in contributing to the development of company objectives and achieving desired goals. Strong accountability combined with strong work ethic and enthusiasm for teamwork.
