Reporting directly to the Director of the Center for Women, the Associate Director will serve as a key member of the Center for Women within the broader context of the Belonging and Community Justice (BCJ) area. Belonging and Community Justice is comprised of six identity spaces at Emory that serve as a hub of support for students to matriculate to and through the university. BCJ promotes dynamic and cohesive learning by creating space for individual, cultural, and communal development. The Center for Women at Emory University is focused on supporting all Emory undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, including women and gender diverse students. The Center for Women is led by a director and supported by the associate director and assistant directors. This position is student-centered and responsible for supporting the Director's strategic vision to coordinate and assess community relevant programs and services to support access, academic progress, sense of belonging, persistence, and retention of students who find their place in the Center for Women. Supports collaboration amongst other identity spaces within BCJ and colleagues across Emory Campus Life to develop intentional planning and implementation of programs and resources focused on students' salient and non-salient identities and intersectionality while promoting a university culture of inclusion. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Student Support & Supervision
Provides and develops resources to all women and gender diverse undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. Serves as an advisor for student organizations supporting women and gender diverse students. Collaborates with student organizations and campus partners leading high impact practices for women and gender diverse students. Refers women and gender diverse students to appropriate campus resources for support, as needed. Meets one-on-one with all students who request assistance. Creates reflective spaces for women and gender diverse students to celebrate their gender identities. Supervises, leads, mentors, and designs professional development opportunities for Center for Women professional and student staff. Responds and supports leadership in crisis situations in accordance with university policies and protocols. Emory and Campus Life Program Development
Develops, coordinates, and executes comprehensive and consistent Center for Women programs and services. Creates and implements outcome-based, innovative, and transformative programs that invite all students to communicate across social identities. Coordinates efforts to welcome women and gender diverse students to Emory. Leads the planning and implementation efforts to celebrate all women and gender diverse students throughout National Women's History Month. Designs assessment tools to gather quantitative and qualitative program data. Supports the BCJ areas and initiatives as well as other units within Campus Life. Creates and presents educational engagement opportunities for students. Develops and collaborates with the Director on women and gender diverse focused presentations, conferences, retreats, and workshops. Cultivates and strengthens relationships with colleagues across the university. Manages Emory lactation room policy and support for room managers. Supports Emory, Campus Life, and the other BCJ areas via committee work, projects, and initiatives. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Communication & Marketing
Leads office newsletters content creation and implementation. Maintains accuracy and effectiveness of the Center for Women website. Markets and promotes the Center for Women, Belonging & Community Justice, and their programming to all students. Fiscal and Center Operations
Provides timely budgetary information to supervisor as necessary. Processes university fiscal paperwork promptly and accurately. Routinely assesses the necessity of various expenditures. Ensures responsible planning and expenditure of fiscal resources. Oversees the cleanliness and organization of the Center & BCJ. Regularly inspects the facilities to identify any maintenance, safety, or operational issues. Supports the Director with fundraising efforts in the Center for Women. Performs other related duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A master's degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or a related field and at least three years of experience with campus-wide programming, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Demonstrated experience in supervising and developing student staff. Demonstrated experience in event management and/or student-centered programming. Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment. Demonstrated understanding and experience with complex issues around identity and equity. Experience educating and training students on topics of diversity, inclusion, and difference. Knowledge of student development theory and understanding current issues related to historically underrepresented communities. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Four years of experience with campus-wide programming. Leadership experience in program development, diversity programming/education. Demonstrated experience with providing high-impact and culturally engaging educational programs. Desire to participate in alumni engagement, fundraising and/or donor relations. Experience designing learning outcomes and assessment metrics. Understanding of the legal aspects of higher education. Connected, engaged, and contributor to student affairs professional associations. Broad knowledge and understanding of university policies, procedures, and culture. ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:
