The ideal candidate must possess a portable business of at least $1M and demonstrate expertise in trusts and estates law. Job Duties: Provide comprehensive estate planning advice to high-net-worth individuals and families, including wills, trusts, and estate administration. Advise clients on complex estate tax matters, including gift tax planning, generation-skipping transfer tax issues, and charitable giving strategies. Draft and review legal documents, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance healthcare directives. Represent clients in trust and estate litigation matters, including will contests, trust disputes, and fiduciary litigation. Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and professional networks to expand the firm's trusts and estates practice. Requirements: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Active membership in the New York State Bar or eligibility for admission by motion. Minimum of 8 years of experience practicing trusts and estates law at a reputable law firm or in-house legal department. Demonstrated success in generating and maintaining a portable business of at least $1M. Thorough knowledge of federal and New York state estate and gift tax laws. Experience with sophisticated estate planning techniques, including family limited partnerships, grantor retained annuity trusts, and charitable remainder trusts. Certifications: Certification in Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Law by the American Bar Association preferred. Membership in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) preferred. Skills: Exceptional client management and relationship-building skills. Strong business development acumen with a proven ability to attract and retain high-net-worth clients. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with other attorneys and staff members. Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality legal services.
