Summary Under general supervision by the GIS Programs Manager, this position performs a variety of technical mapping functions utilizing GIS technology and assists with coordination of GIS activities for Hays County. This position also provides assistance with 9-1-1 addressing and database maintenance. GIS support is provided to the Planning Office as needed. Responsibilities Provides support to the GIS Programs Manager. Assists with GIS activities throughout the County government. Oversees the implementation and maintenance of web based GIS Maps and Applications for the Department. Provides GIS support to other County employees, elected officials, and the public as needed Performs GIS data maintenance and creation from aerial photos, GPS data, and other sources. Reviews and verifies existing addresses in support of the 9-1-1 Database Coordinator. Interacts with local, state, federal, and private agencies requiring Hays County spatial data. Interprets survey field notes and confirm legal boundaries. Provides GIS related technical support to current Department staff, and various other County staff as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree, GIS Certificate, or equivalent training in the area of GIS, geography, or a planning related field. Two years experience in GIS, database management, cartography, or related field.
