Install, configure, upgrade, administer, monitor, and maintain operationally efficient databases. Experience and knowledge in administration and in developing new dashboards or report development in the various platforms like Power BI, Sql Server Reporting Services, and Cloud databases (e.g. Azure). How does it get done? Duties and responsibilities include the following: 1. Tune database applications for optimal performance. 2. Conduct data modeling and design services. 3. Support and design of detailed conceptual data models and translation into outline designs. 4. Install, configure, and support database management systems and related software to resolve highly complex and/or unique issues without precedent and/or structure. Work on databases using more advanced database administration concepts. 5. Maintain highly- available databases. Work closely with application developers to implement robust, scalable applications that interface with those databases. 6. Provide on-going system administration and technical infrastructure support. 7. Review the physical and logical design of databases for optimal database structures, performance tuning, security protocols, and database backup recovery. Plan and implement pro-active and reactive performance analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting and capacity planning. 8. Evaluate and test marketplace tools and utilities, including system integration and automation, which enhance server functionality and promote the development of database management systems and applications. 9. Develop and maintain efficient and appropriate connectivity solutions between various databases to ensure necessary data is available as needed. 10. Create data flow and data life cycle documentation. 11. Adhere to database standards and/or new development protocols. 12. Participate in the identification of continuity disaster recovery risks and migration plans. Assist in the development of disaster recovery plans with service providers. 13. Develop reports and dashboards for presentation to the senior management. 14. Perform duties reflective of hierarchical database systems. 15. The job also requires skills in the upgrading the old database to new platform or even into cloud technologies like Azure or from Sybase to SQL Server. The position will support all the tasks in performing this function. The candidate will cross train other team members in this skill as a part of knowledge transfer and cross training the members in the team. Who are the customers? The customers for this department are both internal divisions like Protective Services Division, Behavioral Health Services, Juvenile Justice Division, Office of the Secretary and also some of the external entities with whom data is shared and data reports are developed. The position supports external government and non government companies and federal government agencies for varied programs and audits. Ideal Candidate The position requires Five (5) or more years in working with database administration Three (3) or more years in database development skills including data migration and data performance tuning to the database objects. Experience in working with the businesses and with the development team to coordinate any data clean up and maintenance. Experience with one or more common databases and / or data modeling tools (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server). Technical knowledge of various platforms to ensure applications and infrastructure stacks are current and supported. Technical knowledge and expertise in the server administration and management of server resources. Experience in working with server admin group and infrastructure team to implement any changes to the servers or in deployment of new software. Experience and knowledge in developing new dashboards or report development in the various platforms like Power BI or Sql Server Reporting Services. Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and customer service skills. Project and time management skills with abilities of effectively managing competing priorities. Minimum Qualification Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering or similar technical degree and two (2) years of experience in data analysis, design, storage and security. Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
