Job Function

Reporting into the Technical Service Manager, the

Technical Service Scientist (Entry to Mid Level)

will be based out of Ashtabula, Ohio. The Technical Service Scientist works closely with the Technical Service Manager and Technical Service Representatives to assure developmental effectiveness in the completion of Color Match, Product Line Extensions and Applications projects. They also support and work with Quality Assurance and Manufacturing as required to minimize issues during scale-up. In addition, this position will support alternative raw material initiatives with bench trials and physical testing for raw material evaluations and investigations into product quality related customer complaints. External Technical Service support can be required to assist in problem solving and color matching at a customer's facility. The position requires scientific, proactive, and inventive work and is not simply executing prescribed test protocols. The scientist will plan experiments, work directly with customers, develop procedures and problem solve.

Responsibilities

Complies with safety rules and regulations, attends safety meetings and training. Also, reports injury/illness and/or environmental incidents. Performs on-site color match support for plastics market segments as required. Ability to travel ( Develops and maintains current knowledge of pigment types & resins / chemistries and their applications. Develops a basic understanding of customer processes and raw materials. This is accomplished by customer visits and internal & external programs. Directs customer contact to obtain information critical to project success. Develops a thorough understanding of the plastics product lines and processes. Develops proficiency in maintaining required record keeping including electronic lab book entries and report generation as required. Suggests improvements to the Technical Service Manager. Maintains good housekeeping practices for assigned work area and all areas worked in. Required Experience

BA / BS Degree in Science or Engineering. Adequate color discrimination skills per Farnsworth - Munsell 100 - Hue Test (will be evaluated). Strong mathematical aptitude. Strong customer focus with a sense of urgency. Good oral and written communication skills. Basic to advanced MS Office skills: Excel and Word. Works well in a close Team environment. Preferred Experience

Experience with business ERP a plus. Benefits
