Responsibilities:
Client consultations, setting up meetings with the help of legal assistants and other support staff, and providing advice on the best available legal solutions. Supervise legal assistants and take responsibility for administrative staff relating to client matters. Create strategies and guide clients to provide the necessary information and documentation to build strong cases. Research complex immigration issues, apply informed analysis, and develop creative and appropriate solutions to clients’ cases. Work on defensive and affirmative asylum, U visas, T visas, VAWA, waivers, and related matters. Prepare and/or attend immigration court proceedings i.e. Master Calendar hearing, Individual hearing, Motion to reopen, defensive asylum, etc. Prepare, draft, and review briefs, motions, and other pleadings, including conducting legal research. Provide case updates to clients. Instruct and conduct weekly meetings with support staff. Assume responsibility for a relatively large caseload. Qualifications:
Required Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school. At least 3 years of full-time experience with removal proceedings, humanitarian, and family-based immigration as a licensed attorney. Well-versed in legal research software (Lexis). Excellent written and verbal communication, and research skills. Self-starter and take ownership of your own caseload while working as a team with our support staff. Impeccable English grammar and writing skills are critical. Attention to detail - the most critical aspect of this job. Work independently, under pressure, and meet deadlines while handling multiple matters. Client service oriented. Must be admitted to practice law in good standing. Reference from previous employers. Compensation:
$100,000 - $135,000 per year
