In person Responsibilities: Counsel clients by assessing options and determining the best course of action for a successful outcome Determine case strategies and solutions to serve clients’ needs after analysis Oversee paralegals, law clerks, and administrative staff Perform research, draft briefs, pleadings, and motions Work closely with and provide leadership to administrative staff concerning client billing, client meetings and invoicing, as well as finalizing client projects What You'll Do: Provide representation to immigrants before the Executive Office of Immigration Review (non-detained and detained), United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, and CA state court proceedings related to clients’ removal proceedings cases Manage a caseload of removal defense cases in the Immigration Court Prepare and litigate various applications for relief from removal such as asylum, withholding of removal, Convention Against Torture, cancellation of removal, and adjustment of status Represent clients in family-based immigration matters before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the Department of State, and corresponding consulates worldwide, including cases like U-Visas, N-400 applications, VAWA protection, adjustment of status, I-601A and I-212 waivers, and family petitions Conduct legal research to support cases Provide leadership and work closely with administrative staff to update on client meetings and case strategy Counsel clients by evaluating options and determining the best course of action for a favorable outcome Analyze client needs, propose solutions, and strategize cases Take on additional responsibilities as the role evolves What Education and Experience You Need: A Juris Doctorate and an active bar license in any state are required, along with 3-4 years of experience working on a combination of VAWA, U, T, Naturalization, Removal Defense, and Family-Based cases Fluency in English and Russian is strongly preferred Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, active insurance policy and/or the ability to travel frequently to attend hearings and interviews and engage with clients and community partners Compensation: $160,000 per year
