SENIOR DIRECTOR, CENTER FOR COMPREHENSIVE HEALING
PROGRAM SUMMARY:
The Center for Comprehensive Healing is an interdisciplinary research center that will evaluate the effectiveness of alternative and complementary healing treatments for mental health. The Center's purpose is to deepen the overall understanding of and utilization of a diversity of healing modalities, by 1) research that studies and examines throughlines and mechanisms of these non-traditional healing options, 2) community-building and convening, and 3) translation to patients in Mass General Brigham's community health centers.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Director (SD) will work closely with the faculty with subject matter expertise and staff to operationalize, oversee, and promote the goals of the Center. The SD will be responsible for the development, integration, and operational management of Center's initiatives. The SD will also be responsible for high-level administrative and fiscal functions of the Center. A large focus will be on program planning and organization, oversight, and management will be ongoing responsibilities.
The Senior Director
is also responsible for setting the strategic and operational direction of the Center (e.g. partnerships, contracts, policies and procedures, and systems, etc.). Drawing on a broad understanding of the MGH hospitals and departments,Harvard Medical School, and displaying a high degree of initiative and independent judgment, the incumbent will work closely with physicians, scientists, and departmental leadership to continually assess and direct a wide range of strategic and operational issues, including: growth planning, strategic partnerships, contracts, financial, personnel, operational, regulatory, facilities and systems issues, The incumbent will work with academic and industry partners (CEO's and other senior leadership) and across multiple service lines and at all levels in our organization as well as in the organizations with which we are partnering.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategy and Planning
*
Provide expertise in strategic planning, external affairs, and policy formulation.
*
Convert ideas into measurable action plans with steps, milestones, and timelines; evaluate methods to achieve the Center's goals.
*
Oversee implementation and execution of the Center's action plans. Monitor milestones and deliverables and provide reports and recommendations to the Chief of Psychiatry.
*
Lead in business plan development; tie business and program development activity to overarching clinical research strategies, and actively contribute to the evolution of those strategies
*
Identify, cultivate and grow collaborative networks including within MGH/MGB as well as national and international collaborators and consortia
*
Assist with the development and management of the Center's education and training programs.
*
Develop and build relationshipsfocused on generating consensus and guiding multiple stakeholders to action
Lead the development and management of the Center's community engagement programs to ensure that clinical research is implemented in a more inclusive way
Engage and coordinate with the Shah Family Foundation on Center programming, outreach and other activities
Operations and Management
*
Oversee human resource functions, such as hiring and review processes
*
Oversee and manage the Initiative's financial portfolio, which includes NIH and foundation funds, throughout the fiscal year to ensure that spending is on target.
*
Provide direct supervision of any staff associated with the Center
*
Oversee project management, including: articulating the project objectives, creating strategies for project execution, building a project plan, and leading team efforts (in concert with other Departmental leadership to ensure on-time completion of project deliverables
*
Develop and analyze budget(s) for alignment with Center's objectives and timetable. Propose solutions for the deployment and management of budget resources to ensure program deliverables are completed on budget
*
Liaison with departmental grants administrators and MGH/MGB Research Management team.
Communication and Relationship Building
*
Serve as a skilled ambassador for the Center to external partners
*
Oversee internal/external marketing strategies for program and its initatives to ensure the Center's visibility within the medical and academic communities
*
Assist with fundraising efforts; work directly with MGB Development liasions to identify funding sources and develop materials for dissemination to potential donors
*
Establish effective working relationships with leadership, administrators, researchers, and clinicians throughout MGH/MGB
*
Provide communication to multiple stakeholders at all levels, including high-level regional, national, and international academic collaborators and industry partners.
*
Participate in relevant Department meetings
Research Project Support
*
Provide support to faculty and staff regarding development of IRB protocols and establishment of reliance and other agreements related to human subject research.
*
Oversee and, when applicable, participate in the development and modification of grant budgets, justifications, and other supporting documents including NIMH annual reports
*
Provide
day-to-day supervision of the Center's research staff in all project years, and serve as institutional liaison between the MGH and all participating subcontract sites. Qualifications Master's degree or higher required (in a field related to public health, or health administration/ management) as well as at least five years of experience in program management.
Demonstrated commitment and/or interest in social justice and equity
Proven ability in program development and implementation
Demonstrated commitment to and experience in clinical research operations
Interest/experience in the areas of mental health, data science, health systems research, information technologies
Proven ability to successfully manage highly complex projects
Financial management, research, and analytical skills to prioritize myriad opportunities.
Experience with developing and implementing proposals and educational materials
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Possess a leadership style that is open and transparent and an exceptional capacity to build strong te
ams and relationships with multiple partners.
Demonstrated judgment in managing sensitive issues and knowledge of when to escalate problems
Enjoys working collaboratively with a variety of personalities and people.
Able to effectively provide leadership, direction, and support to staff.
