The Pharmacy Services Specialist responds to inquiries from Plan members and/or network providers and pharmacies, troubleshoots issues and provides information regarding prescription drug claims, drug coverage options, and prescription/medical drug plans. This position will work weekdays 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Qualifications: High school plus 3 years experience in a healthcare/pharmacy or physician's office setting involving medication therapy or other issues related to prescription drugs or equivalent education/experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Basic knowledge of medical terminology/medications. Ability to Follow Oral Instruction; work independently; must have good communication skills and phone etiquette. Ability to Read and Write Proficiently with Microsoft Office suite (Windows, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree Nursing license or pharmacy technician certificate Additional Information: Responsibilities: Fields inbound calls from providers related to billing and prescription drug claims and then routes callers to the appropriate department as needed and escalates calls to a Pharmacist when needed. Reviews and routes prescription drug Prior Authorization (PA) paperwork to appropriate parties. Answers general questions, identifies root cause of issues and provides resolution to prescription drug coverage requests. Reviews prescription drug coverage and/or alternatives and communicates to appropriate parties. Escalates issues requiring management intervention and documents all actions. Other duties as assigned.
