We are seeking an experienced
Senior Buyer
with expertise in procurement, logistics, and vendor management within the food production or packaging industry. This role is essential for maintaining efficient supply chain operations, optimizing costs, and ensuring consistent product quality. What You Will Do: Oversee purchasing activities for herbs, spices, and other ingredients, negotiating contracts to ensure quality and cost-efficiency. Regularly review inventory levels and implement strategies to align with production schedules while avoiding overstock or shortages. Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and logistics partners, ensuring reliable supply chain operations. Resolve quality issues with incoming and outgoing products, collaborating with internal teams and suppliers. Analyze cost and performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement actionable solutions. Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) system and BRC Food Safety Certification, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards. Stay informed about market trends, pricing, and potential supply chain challenges to inform strategic sourcing decisions. Work closely with production, quality assurance, and other departments to align purchasing with organizational goals. Maintain accurate records of purchases, vendor agreements, and inventory levels, preparing reports to support decision-making. Essential Functions and Basic Duties: Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) system and BRC Food Safety Certification. Establish contracts with logistics companies and maintain vendor relationships to ensure consistent and cost-effective supply chain operations. Analyze and resolve issues related to quality, cost, or logistics, implementing corrective actions when necessary. Review cost and performance data regularly, identifying areas for operational and financial improvement. Meet with vendors to update supply information and strengthen supplier partnerships. Required Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, or logistics, preferably within the food production or spice blending industry. Strong knowledge of food industry standards, including HACCP principles, third-party audits, and BRC Food Safety Certification. Demonstrated success in managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and optimizing supply chain operations. Proven ability to lead initiatives in cost reduction, quality improvement, and operational efficiency. Experience analyzing and processing complex data sets, with the ability to make strategic purchasing decisions. Solid project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and foster strong vendor relationships. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with procurement or ERP software. Financial acumen, including experience managing budgets and assessing cost-performance metrics. Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
