Chief Genomics Officer (CGO)
University Hospitals Health System (UH), in partnership with Korn Ferry, invites nominations and expressions of interest for the position of
Chief Genomics Officer (CGO). With a rich history spanning over 155 years, University Hospitals has remained dedicated to its mission of healing, teaching, and discovery. As an esteemed academic medical center and community hospital network boasting a workforce of over 30,000 caregivers, UH serves patients through an integrated network consisting of 21 hospitals (including five joint ventures), over 50 health centers and outpatient facilities, and more than 200 physician offices across 16 counties in northern Ohio. Recent decades have brought vast advances in medicine, specifically the role of genomics in medicine, and University Hospitals’ physicians have pioneered innovative approaches to patient care, leading-edge treatments and procedures, and breakthrough medicines. With the goal of becoming the premier destination for genomics and genetics not only in the region, but nationally, the recruitment of a Chief Genomics Officer (CGO) is imperative for the institution. A national search is underway. Serving as the leader of clinical genetics and genomics services for the health system, the CGO will play a crucial role in creating a new vision for genomic research and genomic therapy across UH and in collaboration with Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. To further develop and grow genomics enterprise wide, the CGO will work with existing clinical genomics laboratories to organize clinical genetics and genomics services and will be the leader in applying genetics and genomics to clinical care within the health system. Reporting to
Daniel Simon, MD,
President of Academic and External Affairs and Chief Scientific Officer, the CGO will be tasked with creating the infrastructure to drive genomic medicine innovation from both a research and clinical angle. The ideal candidate will be a board-certified MD or MD/PhD with extensive knowledge and a strong understanding of genomics – gene editing, base editing, whole-genome sequencing, gene therapy – and with both research and clinical expertise in interpreting genomic variants, ideally in a genome center. Further, candidates must be eligible for a faculty appointment at the Professor level in the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Korn Ferry is assisting UH with this important recruitment. Applications should include a detailed curriculum vitae and a letter of interest. To ensure full consideration, inquiries, nominations, and applications should be submitted electronically, in confidence, to
tara.vittese@kornferry.com . University Hospitals Health System (UH) is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, religion, veteran status, disability, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or marital status in accordance with Federal and Ohio law.
