Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Principal Systems Engineer to join our Systems Engineering organization Team. This position will be located in Rancho Bernardo, CA. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Applies engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, test, and evaluate systems • Performs trade studies, engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and demonstrate strong time-management skills • Actively participate in the efforts associated with Agile development, including release planning, sprint planning, scrum and retrospective. • Working in an integrated team environment with other systems, software, and specialty engineers to develop solutions. • Prepare technical presentations for management and stakeholders and communicate clearly and effectively the technical approaches and findings • Reviews Test Plans and Procedures for requirements verification and support system integration and test of complex systems. This includes evaluating integration and test anomalies and assisting disposition and correction of issues • Address interface and functionality problems between software components and/or hardware • Work with the software and infrastructure teams to correct or improve capabilities • Develops requirements for the subsystem and SRS/HRS specifications through use of MBSE tools & DOORS • Develops architecture and designs of complex hardware and software systems, including requirements traceability and implementation assessment • Contributes to an implementation that includes the ability to analyze high-level needs and define a structured and logical approach to refine the capability into an integrated set of requirements that led to a fielded product. • Support the development and review of interface documents (ICDs), requirements, Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM), architectural documentation, system engineering estimates, and author and perform formal and informal engineering reviews. • Apply system engineering principles to develop product solutions. ASSystEng Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science Technology, Engineering, Math) with 5 years of relevant experience, Master’s degree and 3 years, or PhD and 0 years • Active in-Scope, DoD Top Secret clearance. • Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Program Access (SAP/PAR) prior to commencement of employment within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs. • Experience in DOORS • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work within diverse teams and present status and designs to all levels of leadership and customer • Experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems and specialty engineers to develop solutions that include a background in all systems development life cycle aspects. • Experience in one or more of the following system engineering knowledge areas: technical planning, requirements derivation, functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, cost and risk analysis, interface definition, system design, system integration, verification and validation, supportability, and effectiveness analyses for total systems. • Experience developing system engineering artifacts (e.g., specifications, Interface Control Documents, Use Cases, System Architecture Descriptions, Trade Studies, Design Packages, etc.). • Experience with requirements development: decomposing requirements from parent-level to lower system/subsystem-level requirements (e.g. system/software architecture, hardware/software design), reviewing/developing software/hardware verification and validation Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in testing and troubleshooting hardware and/or software • Experience in Hardware/Software Integration • Experience working within an Agile development environment • Experience with MBSE, Architecture development, system design and analysis, and development of metrics • Experience being a Product Owner • Experience with software products running in a virtual environment (e.g. VMware) Salary Range: $110,300 - $165,500 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
