Overview
The City of Gresham is seeking a technically minded individual with core knowledge and experience in water distribution but with journey level experience in water telemetry and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition). The successful candidate for this position will work collaboratively with other teammates in our Water Distribution Technician group in the operation maintenance and repair of Gresham's water pump stations, control valves, reservoirs, meters, generators and water system communications systems.

Position Description
The Senior Water Distribution Technician, under the supervision of the Water Distribution Supervisor, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains all the technical equipment and systems for Gresham water. Also, this position is involved in the movement of water supply and storage based on real time distribution demands and serves on a 24hr call rotation in the technician group.

A highly organized driven individual that can work collaboratively within a team and possesses the technical knowledge and experience to successfully operate and maintain Gresham Water's SCADA and telemetry system while also repairing and maintaining critical pumping, metering and water storage facilities. Additionally, the following competences will equip the individual for success in this role:
The schedule will be four 10-hour days per week, and will be assigned by the Water Operations Superintendent. After a sufficient training period the Senior Water Distribution Technician will be assigned to a rotating 24/7 on call response schedule within the technician group.

Position Description
The Senior Water Distribution Technician, under the supervision of the Water Distribution Supervisor, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains all the technical equipment and systems for Gresham water. Also, this position is involved in the movement of water supply and storage based on real time distribution demands and serves on a 24hr call rotation in the technician group.
What you will get to do:
- Operate, maintain and repair critical water infrastructure
- Maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing equipment and machinery in the water distribution system including the computerized telemetry system also known as Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, pump stations, reservoirs, metering stations, pressure reducing stations, and others.
- Repairing or replacing hydraulically operated control valves
- Performing preventative maintenance of equipment and facilities
- Monitoring and maintaining system performance levels
- Responding to and resolving telemetry system alarms, power failures, communication failures, pump failures, and other system operation issues
- Providing on-the-job training and mentoring when required to other Water Distribution Technicians
- Monitoring pumping equipment operations using electronic analysis equipment
- Troubleshooting communication equipment at remote sites
- Maintaining maintenance program records
- Gathering, compiling, and analyzing system data
- Using statistical data to formulate system recommendations
- Assisting management with decisions about the operation of the water system
- Working collaboratively with Cascade Groundwater Alliance (CGA) partners and informing Supervisor or Superintendent of any upcoming issues discovered through work with CGA.
- Assisting in oversight of new construction projects that impact reservoirs and pump stations, including serving as lead regarding knowledge and function of the facility, responding to questions, assisting with access and isolation of the location, coordinating work, and ensuring the facility is put back into service correctly
- Responding to and resolving inquiries and complaints regarding water pressure and the water system
- Providing expert guidance and working with other departments, engineers, inspectors, management, and vendors
- Represent City of Gresham Water on committees, inter-agency task forces, and special projects as assigned
- Maintaining landscaping, vegetation and roads leading to and around reservoirs, pump stations, entry point meter vaults and all other technical water distribution sites
- Maintaining the overall external appearance of reservoirs and the external and internal areas of pump stations to include cleaning, painting and repairs
- Completing security checks and reporting damage from break-ins and vandalism to supervisor or law enforcement when necessary
- Recommending potential security measures or upgrades to supervisor or Superintendent based on observations made during maintenance and security visits
- Maintaining accurate records pertaining to security and vandalism
- Maintaining a good working relationship with neighboring property owners and residents around Water Division facilities in residential and rural areas
- Acts as a subject matter expert when necessary for tours and engineering site visits

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in a related field
- One (1) to Four (4) years of hands-on journey level experience in water specific telemetry/SCADA, pumps and control valve maintenance and repair
- Driver's License
- Good driving record (according to our driving matrix below)
- Oregon or Washington Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A with Air Brakes endorsement within 6 months of hire
- Oregon Health Authority (OHA) Water Distribution Operator Level III certification is required within 12 months of hire
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification is required within 6 months of hire
- Oregon OSHA approved Confined space training within 6 months of hire
- Oregon OSHA approved Competent Person training within 6 months hire
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated mechanical skills and abilities
- Demonstrated experience in water utility operation
- Three to Six years of hands-on journey level experience in water specific telemetry/SCADA, pumps and control valve maintenance and repair
- A major traffic offense or accident that results in death or major injury.
- Driving under the influence (DUI) offense within the last 5 years.
- Have more than 3 moving violations within a 3-year period or more than 2 within a one- year period.
- Have more than 2 accidents within a 3-year period.
