The primary responsibilities include designing, developing, and testing electrical components, equipment, and systems for small robots and other ground-based vehicles according to customer requirements. Applies mathematical and engineering principles and methods to electrical system designs. Conducts research to produce design solutions, improvements, and new products. Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures to junior engineers. Reports to a manager and works with the Tech Lead. A specialist in complex technical and business matters. Work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group.

Responsibilities:

  • Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes

  • Designs, tests, and determines fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and determines methods, procedures, and conditions for testing products
  • Develops applications of controls, instruments, and systems for new commercial, domestic, and industrial uses
  • Ensures that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conforms to functional specifications and customer requirements
  • Coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations
  • Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks
  • Maintains regular study habits by frequently reviewing emerging technologies that improve the design, development, and testing of software programming and applications and applies technologies learned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 7+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficient in EDA tools
  • Proficient skills in analog/digital circuit design
  • Lead DFMEA process
  • Proficient in functional safety analysis
  • Has good communication skills
  • Good team member
  • Has some leadership skills

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Physical Demands:

  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Regularly required to sit and use and regularly required to walk, stand, and bend in the performance of daily responsibilities

  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit; climb, or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

  • The employee must frequently use their hands to handle or feel
