FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE
The EC Process Specialist is a lead teacher level position whose major responsibility would be working with an interdisciplinary team regarding the compliance of Exception Children's records, teacher training, staff development, and review of paperwork used to determine eligibility and Individualized Education Programs. The EC Specialist provides guidance and support with EC paperwork, and is involved in the continuous monitoring of EC records, internal auditing, and software support. The work requires spending time in schools providing guidance, oversight, and assistance.

FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE
The EC Process Specialist is a lead teacher level position whose major responsibility would be working with an interdisciplinary team regarding the compliance of Exception Children's records, teacher training, staff development, and review of paperwork used to determine eligibility and Individualized Education Programs. The EC Specialist provides guidance and support with EC paperwork, and is involved in the continuous monitoring of EC records, internal auditing, and software support. The work requires spending time in schools providing guidance, oversight, and assistance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides school support (coaching, training, responding to questions/concerns, facilitation of high leverage practices).
- Reviews and maintains EC records and rosters to ensure compliance.
- Gathers records from in state or out of state transfers and guides next steps.
- Completes reporting and communication on software.
- Completes state reporting for Child Count Verification.
- Reviews event paperwork and completes file reviews to ensure EC paperwork compliance.
- Develops, conducts, evaluates, and attend professional development.
- Additional related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
- Knowledge of policies governing services for children with disabilities.
- Knowledge of parents' rights and responsibilities in special education
- Knowledge of testing students with disabilities
- Knowledge of FERPA (Family Education Rights and Privacy Act)
- Ability to work collaboratively within and across departments.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
- Ability to be self-directed, responsible, professional, and complete work per prescribed timelines and meet deadlines.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills to be able to effectively communicate with diverse groups of people, personalities, and situations.
- Ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
- Ability to interpret federal, state, and local laws, polies, procedures, and regulations related to exceptional children programming.
- Ability to analyze data.
- Responds effectively and promptly to issues and communicates resolutions in a timely manner.
- Ability to work confidentially and with discretion.
- Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or another related degree
- Desirable: Experience working in a special education leadership role
