Job Description:
Work as part of an interdisciplinary team for clients with a variety of personality and mood disorders who primarily receive in-office treatment but could benefit from peer support services. Use your own life experience to engage individuals in crisis, assist individuals with engaging in services and supports, and develop an individualized recovery plan. Promote self-efficacy and independence through providing supportive interventions as agreed upon collaboratively with the treatment team.
Requirements
In addition to patient care-centered responsibilities as assigned in their department, the Lead Peer will also be responsible for:
- Organizing and leading individual and group supervisions for peers
- Advising leadership on the proper use of peers and best practices for supporting peers in their role.
- Training staff and peers on roles and responsibilities of peers.
- Supporting peers with gaining and maintaining their NH credentials
- Being an advocate and champion for the peers at MHCGM.
- Supporting coordinators and directors in the hiring of new peers.
- Participate in statewide training, with a goal of becoming a local trainer
- Participation in committees as assigned to represent the peer perspective.
- Must be certified as a Peer Specialist or Recovery Coach. Must be eligible for CRSW and Intentional Peer Support certification.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and automobile with liability insurance in the amount required by agency policy.
At least two years' experience working as a peer specialist in a mental health center setting and/or substance misuse services is required.
Education:
A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
