Entry Level Quality Control Chemist Job Description We are seeking a Quality Control Chemist to join our Quality Team at a pharmaceutical company. The Quality Control Chemist I will perform basic analysis for raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products in a safe, compliant, and efficient manner. This role includes performing wet chemistry and analytical testing to evaluate the quality of incoming raw materials and finished products, ensuring they meet high standards. The chemist will report testing results through computerized systems or standard laboratory paper-based documentation and perform other related duties as required. Responsibilities Consistently adhere to company, site, and laboratory safety rules, raising any safety issues with supervision immediately. Follow procedures at all times, adopting cGMP and cGDP practices. Follow supervisor directions at all times. Function independently but ask questions as necessary. Accept dynamic work sequences. Actively participate in daily and weekly planning discussions with teammates and supervision, offering suggestions to improve Right First Time and schedule adherence. Consistently communicate work sequence status to supervisor in a timely manner. Participate in discussions to identify opportunities for correction and improvement when scheduled work is not achieved. Demonstrate engagement in helping to achieve QC laboratory, team, and individual goals. Offer suggestions for improvements when faced with roadblocks and issues. Be a positive influence on the QC laboratory, supporting and assisting teammates on the same shift wherever possible. Understand basic non-instrumental wet chemistry techniques, including Manual Titrations, pH, Conductivity, Autotitrations, UV-Vis, and Polarimeter. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Chemistry (no biology or microbiology unless with recent relevant experience in chemistry). Laboratory experience in academia or through internships. Attention to detail. Skills in HPLC, wet chemistry, pH, and titration. Additional Skills & Qualifications Interest in having a career as a pharmaceutical chemist. Ability to function independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Work Environment Work in the QC Chemistry lab, starting with the 1st shift team for initial training. Primary work will be in the in-process testing group. Training will be conducted by a 1st shift trainer and will take approximately 1-2 months before testing on live products. After training, the individual will report to the supervisor on 3rd shift. The core hours for the 3rd shift are 11pm to 7am, with flexibility to shift +/- 2 hours, and can be from Sunday night to Thursday night or Monday night to Friday night in 8-hour shifts. Alternatively, four 10-hour shifts can be offered, which may include rotating Saturday night coverage or a weekend option. The work environment is business casual with closed-toed, flat comfortable shoes required.
